/ I have a passion for birds of prey; they are just such magnificent birds to me!! This is a combination of two photos I had taken. The background photo is a sunset from my home and the other is of a red-tailed hawk that was in captivity due to a permanent injury. I’ve used PS to alter this photo. The inspiration for this piece has come from a responsibility I feel I have … to HELP protect our beautiful resources in nature.

Model – Meluxine The height of winter, she’s laying on wet frozen ground, in a vintage dress and my ugg boots, full to the brim with Hungry Jacks, watching me dance like a crazy person with a head cold around her when suddenly the sun breaks through right at the perfect moment, and she manages to pull of that look like it’s as easy as microwave popcorn. / This girl rocks. Wow .. I was so absolutely thrilled to see this today .. I went to the bank and was later going to the woods to take a few photos ..I looked up because everyone one else is looking up…and there in the city ( not right downtown ) , sitting on a ledge where pigeons usually are on a store is this magnificent bird … Surprized to say the least !! Im so glad I had my camera with me .. I cant believe that hes living in this area .. lots of cars & people ..silly bird .. theres forest woods and a valley not to far from where I was and live .. This is so unreal to see him where I live !!!

I used ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal on canvas textured paper. The original painting was just auctioned for charity recently. This work was also inspired by the _‘Legend of Red Dog aka The Pilbara Wanderer’, as is ‘Where is Red Dog’. Red Dog was an adventurous dog who seemed to belong to an entire community. / When his soulmate John died, Red Dog searched for him for the rest of his days, that’s loyalty for you! This painting depicts the time Red Dog’s search for John took him all the way from the dusty outback to Cottesloe Beach, with the girls from his hometown hot on his tail…... If you look closely you can see the tips of Red Dog’s ears way out past the breakers!

The hands are mine….. hubby helped with that photo :-)..... and a red-tailed hawk that I’ve used in other images in my portfolio. I’ve merged all 3 images and applied the Orton Effect in PS. / To Love Nature is to “Embrace” Her…..... Not destroy her!!

This piece was inspired by my love and passion for nature and birds of prey. The red-tailed hawk is one of my favorites! This image is comprised of two photos I shot. The wild flowers photo was taken in the North Georgia Mountains. And the red-tailed hawk I photographed at our local zoo. I did some cropping,dodge work,hue adjustments and applied the orton effect in PS.
