Dramatic Scottish sunset over Sand Dunes near Arisaig, Western Scotland. Some may know this beach from the film ‘Local Hero’ This Photograph won Editors Choice as well as Photo of the week on the website ePHOTOzine.com : “Every month editor Pete will explain why he has chosen a particular Photo of the Week. This month: Arisaig Sunset by arwengrace. Photo Of The Week Comment from Pete Barr Angela Barnett (arwengrace) usually grabs my attention with fascinating magical-style montages. Her more recent work has been landscapes and this one, taken with a Sigma 10-20mm, really caught my eye as well as many of the members. It has exceeded 200 votes of confidence. / So what’s so special? Well for me it’s the amazing depth of colour and atmosphere. Sunsets are always popular, but this takes the glorious ‘ah-factor’ colours of a sunset and adds an incredible ‘wow’ topping of drama. There’s not really anything to lead you around the shot or vie for your attention, just a complete canvas of painterly light with the contrast of the dark monotone snow and the depth and incredibly colourful cloud formations. I bet it looks wonderful printed.”

As I stood on the bank watching this young man paddle his canoe across the lake. He seemed to be unaware of the beauty that lay behind him. This made me think about all the beauty that we behold each and every day that we simply ignore or take forgranted. Sometimes we need to just stop and really take in all of the marvelous creations around us. Taken in Carrollton Georgia – Lake Carroll Nikon D80 / 55-200mm Tamron lense / 75mm length / f/22 / ISO 100 / 1/60 This is my new favorite!!! /

This sunset photograph was taken in Donsol, Philippines in January 2007, and shows two fishermen going home after a day of fishing. I myself had had an unsuccessful day of trying to spot whale sharks, but this sunset made the whole day worthwhile.

This was just a lucky catch. My wife got some tulips for her birthday and I took one out as the sun was setting to try a get a nice shot. I put the vase down & as soon as I turned my back I heard the hummer behind me, I turned back around and had time to get off one shot before he realized he wasn’t interested in tulips. Chinook clouds are a unique cloud formation found mainly in southern Alberta, Canada. A chinook is also known as the “snow eater” as it brings in warm air into the region during the winter. My sky shots are 100% natural and have not been altered or enhanced.
