So good to have uploaded some more work. I have been busy painting away (see new works on my website www.michellegiacobello.com), but havn’t been able to make it to a drawing class for a few months, and I sooooo missed it! Last night at Dr Sketchy we had a gorgeous Tattooed model called Miss Nic. Such fun and a gorgeous smile. I left with a smile on too.

I guess in the year and a half ive been cruising the RedBubble alleys, i’ve done pretty well not to have met with much negativity. So i can’t complain really…...with such a large collective of artists i guess it’s always inevitable that eventually u will be met with some sort of unfriendly interaction. And i have met so many wonderfully talented and friendly artists on here that little incidents like this don’t cause more than a tiny little niggle of frustration really. But i still wanted to have a wee rant about it! Basically, the way i operate here (and everyone is different) i only comment on works if i like them. i see loads i don’t like – but i simply don’t bother to comment. because i dont want to lie nor say something that is only one person’s opinion- who’s to say someone else won’ t LOVE IT. Some may think this is some how cowardly or fake but i simply believe that art is so subjective that unless someone has specifically asked me to critique their work, i won’t pass any negative judgement. I recently received a reply back from another artist to a comment i’d made on their work. my comment was of praise and i truly loved the work, but the word i chose to describe that particular piece (let’s say ‘sketch’) was apparently offensive to the artist who had spent countless hours constucting the piece. i chose my wording based on the style and feel of the piece – wispy whimsical lines and free flowing forms….. but the artist response was quite cold and certainly indicated they were perterbed by my vocab. (let’s say ‘actually it’s a finished final piece, not a SKETCH’) now perhaps im over-reacting, but as an artist i take the time to thank other artists for their comments – they’ve bothered to let me know they like my work – i certainly would never throw it back in their face by correcting them and implying that they were undermining my talent and experience [this person was a self-proclaimed ‘professional’ artist] so i guess what i’ve learnt is choose your words carefully and if someone doesn’t appreciate that you’ve taken the time to let them know how much you love their creation, then leave them alone to enjoy their precious work, and check out some of the other amazing artists the bubble has to offer [and who aren’t all ‘professionals’ either i might add wink] Tiffatron Here are some awesome artworks worth commenting on! / [check ‘em out – they dig your comments!] Tangled Up by i.itch.illustrations Pippa by Steph Granshaw Hovering Cloud by Teejayelle Monsters by CandyRainbow In The Key Of Funk by Tate © Shhhhhhhecret by yellowbee Enjoy!
