  • Rous River
    by Mel Brackstone

    US$4.99–US$114.00

Nick asked to see what I shot on the houseboat….here’s one that looks ok This is two of the three auto exposure bracketted shots merged in photomatix. The boat moved too much in the longer exposure for that one to be useable. The Rous River is a tributary of the Tweed, and is basically surrounded by cane farms and mountains. We’re in the middle of one of the largest calderas in the world, I believe….a monster volcano from even before I was born! Canon 5D, 16-35mm at 16mm, f/10, 1/60”, ISO 50, tripod on a moving boat…

  • Tokyo - Street scene by night
    by sparrowhawk

    US$43.19–US$138.19

  • / / / Christmas Rainbows Nativity is a mixed media production on brown paper / I used white acrylic gesso under, with a mix of chalk pastel, black marker and charcoal to create this little piece especially for Christmas 2008 You may notice that each character has a Heart… / Jesus’ heart is white – symbolic of his purity / Mary has a pink heart – symbolic of a mother’s gentleness and softness / Joseph’s heart is red – symbolic of father’s strength and reliability The idea of sending Rainbow Wishes for Christmas 2008 seemed appropriate in light of our global situation, the Rainbow stands for Hope or Promises made that they will be fulfilled…. I think we are all hoping for the fulfillment of the promises made to us by our governments, our leaders, our friends and family for PEACE and GOODWILL towards all men, regardless of race or creed….and not least of all God himself who spoke about rainbows being a sign of promise and hope, and also Jesus who’s birth it is we celebrate, mainly because of the hope his birth put in our hearts for true freedom from our chains (but if you are not a believer, the artwork still speaks of the promise of hope…..if not a believer in hope…then this one isn’t for you …but perhaps it will speak to someone’s heart and help spread a little hope for the future around )

  • My Country
    by Globalphotos

    US$4.99–US$114.00

My Country The love of field and coppice, / Of green and shaded lanes. / Of ordered woods and gardens / Is running in your veins, / Strong love of grey-blue distance / Brown streams and soft dim skies / I know but cannot share it, / My love is otherwise. I love a sunburnt country, / A land of sweeping plains, / Of ragged mountain ranges, / Of droughts and flooding rains. / I love her far horizons, / I love her jewel-sea, / Her beauty and her terror - / The wide brown land for me! A stark white ring-barked forest / All tragic to the moon, / The sapphire-misted mountains, / The hot gold hush of noon. / Green tangle of the brushes, / Where lithe lianas coil, / And orchids deck the tree-tops / And ferns the warm dark soil. Core of my heart, my country! / Her pitiless blue sky, / When sick at heart, around us, / We see the cattle die- / But then the grey clouds gather, / And we can bless again / The drumming of an army, / The steady, soaking rain. Core of my heart, my country! / Land of the Rainbow Gold, / For flood and fire and famine, / She pays us back threefold- / Over the thirsty paddocks, / Watch, after many days, / The filmy veil of greenness / That thickens as we gaze. An opal-hearted country, / A wilful, lavish land- / All you who have not loved her, / You will not understand- / Though earth holds many splendours, / Wherever I may die, / I know to what brown country / My homing thoughts will fly. • Second Look On 7th Street
    by Helen Bascom

    US$6.65–US$152.00

Although the Louisville Cardinals is the home town college basketball team in Louisville, Kentucky USA, people are so rabid insane about University of Kentucky (located in Lexington Kentucky USA) that anyone wearing the Cardinal red colors (in stead of Wildcat blue) always get a second look. They say that in Kentucky, University of Kentucky Wildcats isn’t just about basketball, it’s a religion. Dare to wear red in a black and white world. / MCN:C27-LA6O-1752 LIMITED EDITION PRINTS CLICK HERE The red penguins along the building are some marketing tactic for the art gallery housed in the building. © 2008 All Rights Reserved

  • Spring Rain
    by Thomas Akers

    US$4.43–US$101.08

The brick sidewalks of Lexington, Virginia. To the left is the church where Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson served as deacon; under the distant trees is his grave. On the right when the awnings sheltered McCrum’s drugstore the Trailway bus would stop to allow passengers to go inside and eat. Phil “Old Dixie” Nunn who had been born a slave would try to sell them postcards as they went inside. “Dixie” (no one would have called him Phil) wore handmade shoes and claimed to have once as a boy, held Traveler’s reins while Robert E. Lee mounted. He was proud of both. Death is at last the great egalitarian. Now the gentle spring rain falls with equal indifference on the celebrated grave of Jackson and the unmarked one of Nunn; and the hand fashioned bricks glisten where each once walked. Acrylic on wood.

  • Haulin' Hay
    by Patricia Montgomery

    US$4.16–US$95.00

Location: Cave Spring, Georgia After a long day of hauling hay on our farm, my husband had already taken the other tractor to the barn. I lingered in the field a little longer in my tractor, camera ready and waiting for sunset. When the skies began to glow, I parked the tractor at the top and then ran down to the bottom of the hill to compose this shot. This image was featured by Tamela in the Georgia group during the months of September & October 2008. Thank you for stopping by to comment on this image. I don’t normally respond with individual thank-you comments due to time constraints (slow dial-up speed). I prefer to spend my limited time on RB by commenting on your work instead. However, I want you to know how much it means to me that you took the time to view and comment on my work! Patricia ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Please don’t copy or download this image.
