Each month passes by so quickly, however images can capture the mood and express a feeling. I have tried to create an expression for each month using photography as the means. All photographs are taken from the National Parks and scenic areas in California, Utah, and Arizona and include Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Zion Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Sedona, Mammoth, and June Lake. Each photo was taken in the month it is assigned to.
This calender is a selection of artist work by Sue Hodge. Sue and her family have lived in Broken Hill for the past 13 years. During that time Sue has compiled an impressive range of artwork in various mediums and styles, opened her own gallery and been inducted into the Broken Hill Artist Walk of Fame. / This Calendar is a celebration of her work and marks the end of an era as Sue and her family leave Broken Hill at the end of 2008, starting afresh in Dubbo.

Sunset happens when the trailing edge of the sun’s disk disappears below the horizon in the west. / In particular, there tends to be more dust in the lower atmosphere at the end of the day than at the beginning. During the day, the sun heats the surface of the Earth, lowering the relative humidity and increasing wind speed and turbulence, which serves to lift dust into the air. However, differences between sunrise and sunset may in some cases depend more on the particular geographical features of the location from which they are viewed. For example, on a west-facing coastline, sunset occurs over water while sunrise occurs over land.

The calendar is composed of pictures I took while visiting with my family in Red Rock Canyon Nevada. I was so impressed with the large red rocks and how they are mixed with rocks in other colors, that I took about three dozen pictures. I had chosen the best for this calendar

The Australian “Red Centre” is not really able to be desrcibed adequately in words. You see pictures of “Ayres Rock” but it’s not until you’re actually there and realise that they were taken from 10 – 20 km away that you begin to comprehend the emmensity of the place. You don’t walk down the road and have a look, you drive hours. When you set out to walk around the “rock”, you take water because this pebble is 10km around! You don’t leave these places without having been touched in some way or other. These pictures are not really to impress others, they are to remind us of our experience. If you enjoy them, I hope they remind you of your time there or inspire you to go and experience for yourself.
Images jumped into my camera as I visited the northeast corner of North America and then jumped to the southwest. Photos in this calendar were taken in New Brunswick, in Acadia National Park in Maine, Death Valley National Park in California, Rhyolite, Nevada, and in Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area in Nevada.
