So we’ve finished our January thinking and decided we need a few more folks to help row the boat. In fact over the next few months we’re going to put on four folks to help develop new products, get the RedBubble message ‘out there’ and help generate sales. More on these positions in a day or two – because today I’m posting about a new role: the Operations Manager. Here’s a blurb from our role description: The operations manager is responsible for ensuring our customers get their orders on time and in great condition, counting and distributing all the beans and keeping everyone happy (read supply chain management, finance and customer support). We’re looking for someone with a background that includes financial management; managing suppliers and staff; measuring and improving the way things are done; knowing how to keep people happy; and is great at making stuff happen. The successful candidate should have perfectionist tendencies – coupled with the ability to compromise in a chaotic start-up environment. In an ideal world the operations manager will also have international experience. Basically we’re looking for someone to help run the engine and make sure the numbers add up (and everyone is paid). The position will be based in Melbourne (Australia). If this sounds like you please send Peter an e-mail with your CV and a few lines describing why you think this is the job for you. - Peter

A Shepard Fairey(1) -inspired piece that was pitched as my two cents worth in alignment with the Homo Promo campaign of the November 2008 issue of Gay Times (UK). (1) Shepard Fairey is the stunning brain behind the “Obama | Hope” posters. The piece here is based on a photo of Luke MacFarlane by Greg Lotus that was featured in Out Magazine. MacFarlane was just leaping out of the page at me particularly because of this easy masculinity about him in the photo and the whimsical softness to his half salute, half contemplative hand-on-brow gesture. You can read more about this piece on my blog HERE
