Nestled outside of Copper Mountain in Colorado, this caught my attention fast as I was coming back home to Denver. It literally came out of no where, and thus I slammed on the breaks and made a B-line for the shoulder of the road. From loss comes life in the waters of Espiritu Santo Vanuatu, where soft coral and a featherstar have made their home on the hulk of a sunken ship the Henry Bonneaud. The sun was shining, perfect blue skies, wind a bit chilly but otherwise a perfect day for photographs today in the Munmorah State Recreation Area near Budgewoi on the NSW Central Coast. This shot was taken from Snapper Point just above the huge cave there and looking out to this huge rock. I couldn’t resist this shot with the waves breaking and the water cascading over. Unfortunately the sun wasn’t right for shots of the cave so I will have to make another trip there. This magnificent park affords magnificent coastal views from many vantage points, two camping areas at Freeman’s Camp Area and Birdie Beach, plus many walking trails. Today the wild flowers were beginning to bloom so I’ll be back with the macro for a few of those. /

The colors last fall seemed incredibly beautiful to me. Maybe part of my experience had to do with that it was my first fall with my new Nikon D80. A friend joined me early one morning for a drive up to Brainard Lake Recreation Area, near Ward, Colorado. We walked up to Long Lake and hiked around the lake. / A small crop done, to get rid of a shadow from a bridge, and a few dead pixels cloned out. Otherwise, exactly as it came out of the camera. / Nikon D80, with 18-135 mm Nikon lens / f/25, 1/5 sec, ISO 100, focal length 28 mm

A Lego recreation of Philippe Halsman’s 1948 photographic collaboration with Salvador Dalí entitled “Dalí Atomicus”. This was rather difficult, and wet. It took two and a half hours to set up, and 15 seconds before the set was destroyed by the chaos that ensues when you turn a hosepipe on a carefully balanced Lego scene.
