  • This is my son’s cat, Patch – he’s one rather large and dark cat. I went to see my son a few weeks ago, and when I walked in the door, I saw a strange cat! It was very large and looked very dark. Quite a regal and handsome looking beast, I thought! Eventually, I got the chance to ask him, “What’s with the strange cat?” He wondered what I was talking about. I described the cat I had seen, and said I hadn’t seen it before, whose was it? He told me it was his cat, Patch. I didn’t really believe him, but, shortly after, I saw the cat again and pointed him out. “Yeah, that’s Patch!” It had been a few months since I had seen him, and, in those months, he had changed beyond my recognition. I guess they hadn’t noticed because they had been there the whole time. I decided when I went to see him again last night that I would take a few pics to compare against others I had taken last year! I admit that, in this pic, he doesn’t appear very dark, but, when standing above him, he is almost black along his back. He’s definitely a very good looking cat now! I hope you agree with me.

  • During Gary’s adolescence, one of his elementary teachers presented him with this trumpet after recognizing Gary’s sharp intellect & many artistic talents.  Already dabbling in various forms of artistic expression (i.e, sketches, drawings, figure studies, paintings), Gary tried his hand at the trumpet but never developed a keen interest or passion for playing.  Unfortunately, the trumpet would not become his claim to fame.  However, he has kept it all these years as a sentimental reminder that during his most formative years as a child, someone took notice & took action, encouraging him to pursue artistic endeavors, clearly his God-given gift.  As we artists well know, all it takes is for a mentor to “take notice & take action” in our work to provide that important nudge toward motion – one that propels us into the artistic stratoshpere.  Keep soaring, Gary!  Your recognition is at hand….Chad

  • Sad was drawn on the 23-11-08 / Sad (poem) was written on the 21-11-08 Sad Sadness is shy. / She bites at our hearts / and tugs at our minds / Sadness stops us / and makes us feel. Our blood bursts with sadness. / Makes us fall within our essence. / Sadness is the seed / in the fertile soil / that grows the flower happiness. Sadness the mirror / Sadness the reflection, / of our faces in the water. / Sadness makes us dance alone. / She makes us build emotional muscle. Sadness gives us gumption. / Sadness makes us have courage. / She feeds our minds with memories and dreams. / Sadness creates tension for change, / and urges us to look within. Sadness massages our hearts / and makes them grow stronger / Sadness is our teacher / the precursor of self-awareness / Inspiration behind art. Sadness is the friend of reflection, / Sadness the light in the dark, / The shadow to the sun. / Sadness now is part of our happiness then. / Sadness knows nature loves to hide. The more we love, / The more we miss, / The more we cry when it goes. / Sadness is the mistress of vulnerability, / The guardian of our sensitivity, / A companion to our bliss. Sadness links us to others. / Sadness enables us to feel compassion. / Sadness is an empty space. / Sadness is beautiful. / Sadness makes us human.

I noticed something today and it kinda got me goat. Well you can tell by the context of the piece what subject matter this may be about. I like to share this with my fellows as for me, when putting my work out to others I face sometimes this feeling of wanting what simply at this moment in time is not mine to experience. And I go inside and see that it is indeed my thinking that has brought me this angst or whatever negative emotion name appears. / . / I am having such an amazing experience with my art and recognition,,, still this stuff comes up for me and I go to a conversation like this one to feel better and understand that I am creating my own little glitch!! Not anyone ‘else’! / xxxO
