Where are the painters, illustrators and graphic artists?

I’ve been keeping a close eye on the featured and popular pages on Red Bubble, and wondering where all the painters, illustrators and graphic artists are?! There are some AMAZING artists working in these media on the site, but it just seems like they’re all being lost in the system. I have nothing against photography or the photographers, but it’d be nice to see a more even spread. So – do your bit! Upload your best painting, illustrative or graphic pieces Seek out painted and illustrated works Comment, fave and watch! The popular algorithm is a closely guarded Red Bubble secret, however I’m sure doing the above things can help boost painting and illustration on this site. I know we can all help bring attention to the amazing artists on this site who deserve to have a little light shone on them! I will go through my own watch list and select and feature artists who I think deserve to be a little more popular. I have sent in my request to have an Illustration group on RB, and Kathleen emailed me back a few days later and said that many people had requested the same thing and that they were nutting out a plan for launching such a group. I really can’t wait, I do think a group dedicated to illustrators might be the shot in the arm needed for illustrative artists. If you’re with me, let me know!! Spread the word! (I have submitted this to a few groups, please let me know if this is appropriate – because I think it is, and highly beneficial to us all!!)

Many apologies for having been rather quite in recent time. But I am back. I like to share a little of what I have been doing recently. / Some may know from melinda kerr that I have recently been to Indonesia. I was involved in medical teaching team from melbourne. We went to East Indonesia to help a small clinic which provides a free medical care to the poor. Whilst many of the big cities in Indonesia are opulent, many of the small villages and island, especially in the east Indonesia are left with very limited resources. There are medical facilities available but as many are poor, it is out of reach of many poor farmers and fishermen. This clinic is started by an australian couple with the support of many NGO. Medical treatment and medicine are provided free and no one will be turned away. Often, when treatment could only be done in the hospital, financial help is given to the patient who needs it. Many patients come from places hours away, some even from different islands. The needs are tremendous. They also provide training for their health worker. They have a local doctor that works in the clinic who is helped by health worker. These workers are high school graduates who are trained with specific skills to diagnose common ailments and even performing specific blood test such as malaria which is endemic in the area. I guess for our standard perhaps this is not that acceptable. But in the area, the alternative is worst. Dying from an easily treated medical problem will be an everyday occurrence without this clinic. Many of these workers themselves have traumatic childhood experiences plagued with poverty and for some even abuse, intentional neglects and rejection because things are just too hard and poor. Many for these workers find home, father or mother figures, trust and self belief, because some one care enough to think that they have potential. I believe this is a place of healing, healing patients from physical ailments and healing the worker from personal hurts. They are now in the process of completing a 16 beds hospital including maternity section. These is all supported by the a local rotary club in melbourne. This couple is totally inspiring. They all live in a compound together where the health workers receive medical education and english lessons. They are all paid workers. They are all dedicated to the service of helping the poor. I will slowly put some photos in the next weeks. For those who felt touched to help the cause or would like to know more about the work, please contact me. Any help is appreciated. Thanks for reading Rebecca

Hi There – just passing on a thank you to two groups for my features this past week: / A Photographer’s Craft group featured my image Fallen: / And the group Music Inspired Art featured Chrome Plated Heart, which was a dedication to the host/creator of the group who is recovering from heart surgery. The group members got together and created heARTwork for Paul in a challenge, and to boost his spirits during his recovery. In this group you combine a piece of music and create an artwork to go with it. The song I chose for this piece is called “Chrome Plated Heart” by Melissa Ethridge (click on her name for the live Youtube video) / Cheers, S.

I am delighted to see that people here like my work – and once again I would like to thank you all for your kind words and critiques. I sold another card today and was wondering – since one gets no feedback on WHO bought it – if I could have some feedback on the quality of my work on paper and canvas print. I got already one feedback and it really helps me improve my work :-) I was specially wondering for the person who bought a canvas print of the path to translucency ... but all other matter too of course. So please, if you don’t mind, bubbblemail me or leave a comment on this journal with a little feedback :-) Hope you all have a great day, / Diana

I was a victim of internet atack , my identity and credit card info was stolen. Everything starting after I published my website www.creativezone.ro and www.transylvanikon.com . There was a link for PayPal payments and an E-Bay link to my e-bay gallery wich was empty . I just designed the website to have this feature , a direct link to my e-bay account. This was my critical point cuz from here somebody was able to see my real name and sent me a phishing e-mail to answer to an “unpayed” item disspute. I was so naive and I believed that is better to see whats the problem and why is related to me, what are his concernings, cuz I didn’t even started to sell on e-bay anything yet. But in the e-bay message my name was clearly nominated. The answering e-bay form was very tricky , they asked me to confirm again my identity with my card info . And I was so naive to fill all the info and send. In that moment I realised maybe is a fake message and site. But was too late. Anyway, be aware, do not put e-bay links on your website could be dangerous.

Atlanta’s Historic Oakland Cemetery was badly damaged in the recent tornado that struck the heart of the city. While the cemetery belongs to the city, it’s a 150 year old burying ground that has depended on a nonprofit foundation for preservation efforts that have been underway. Based on the photos I’ve seen both on flickr and on the Cemetery’s website, it looks like the tornado was a huge step back. If you want to help preserve Oakland for future generations, check out their website for details. Additionally, for at least the next several months, I intend to take any profits from the sale of the following images at Oakland and donate them to the cemetery’s foundation. See the following images.
