Ok, I have had the word from Jane Dewar. We are on / / We propose a competition for you guys and Jane has awarded that she will get her developers to not only publish the work of winning entries, but to also have a dedicated page made on the Gorilla Haven site for special donors [yep, thats what she called us all]. The page will be titled – / / Gorilla Grumbles of Gratitude [A gorilla grumble is a noise they make when they are pleased about something]. / / On top of this, each year, Gorilla Haven run a printed publication which goes global, and the winning entry will be published in that – WOW, what recognition folks. / / Ok, so this is a two way thing – it may give you fame, but it wont give you fortune [at least, not on the image you enter] as it will be a fund raiser as well, but think of the exposure that is possible. / / We are just finalising the details of what Jane will be doing for you, and what we will want you to do for GH as a condition of entry, and then I will be posting the news and opening up the floor for your entries – keep your eyes open folks. / / This is very exciting news for us and our hairy cousins at GH. / / Julie
Personally Offensive Art / Anti-War, Pro-War..
Personally Offensive Art / Anti-War, Pro-War You can scream war and watch a roomful of people hit the deck while a city block raises their fists in salute to your call to arms. You can scream fire and a city of people will come to your aid while only a handful of people tuck tail and run, absolved of responsibility. You can scream rape and the nation will mourn with you. Terrorism and we all grit our teeth. Evil and we pray… Pedophile – execute Capitol punishment / Let them live Human rights / Nazi regime Not to mention a very long list of vilifying words and their reactions to follow so long I would crash RedBubble’s servers trying to upload them. As a nation we have developed the idea that being aware of stereotypes and dangers and race issues will help us to be more sensitive to it and ensure that we will not offend anyone who falls into one of these categories. This is wrong… I grew up in Cornwall and a friend of mine from a different province came to see me. He had no idea that racial tension between the Indians (North American Aboriginals for those of you about to freak out about the word Indian). I of course was the ever present walking-talking-encyclopedia that had to ensure he was informed. Because I told him about the racial tensions he stammered, stuttered and made an ass of himself when he met one of my Indian buddies. It took me half an hour to talk them out of kicking his face in. He had no idea there was a problem until I told him there was…so… To you OVER-CHRISTIANIZED-NAZI-FUNDAMENTALIST-IDIOTS on RedBubble going around trying to tell people there’s a problem with their art and making the admins take it down, I have this to tell you. I don’t care what color you are, how old you are, what language you speak or what deity you believe in…if you try to tell people how to live, you are evil. If you think you have the only right answer, you are stupid. If you get a single piece of my artwork banned or another piece of art from a single person I know on this network again, I will personally hack your IP addresses and hand them out to a few hackers I know who delight in deleting people’s RRSPs, bank account, credit cards and putting out warrants for their arrest – erasing the fact they even exist once they’ve been put in jail so that they get lost in the system and then publish a list of your names and home addresses through an anonymous friend of mine on 4Chan so they can see if yoru families get the joke you missed. . . . . . . /

What does drip stand for? Dividend Re-Investment Plans. Why am I telling you about some stockbroker jargon? because if you sell something on redbubble you get a commission, a kickback, a dividend! My DRIP is going to be to spent whatever money I earn from redbubble back on redbubble. I just got a little dividend and so now I get to go shopping! too easy. Im sure this in not a unqiue idea but I love how its called a drip. funnily enough I got the info from another website with a favicon that is disturbingly similar to redbubbles. see for yourself: http://beginnersinvest.about.com/od/dividendsdrips1/a/aa040904_5.htm scotty

Do you like them placed vertically or horizontally? Been playing around with them a bit, and I think I really like the horizontal ones, especially those with black borders at the sides. How do you like yours?

Reasons for joining Redbubble: 1. Community / Reasons for joining Redbubble: 2. Inspiration Ok, I’m finally getting around to finishing my triptych of justification. The third reason I joined Redbubble, which I suspect says a lot about me, is learning. I look at my work and I can see a lot wrong with it. Often the colours are unconsidered, there is no depth, the poses are static and uninteresting. Certainly, I’m my own biggest critic, and I can’t be happy until my work is better. Joining an art site, I had hoped I could find other artists who could provide me with a little direction. I can see what is wrong, but as far as techniques to improve, I’m at a loss. We have a wide variety of still levels on this site, so I wanted to tap some of that. I jumped into the critique forum with energy and enthusiasm, thinking if I could promote a culture of solid, considered feedback I too could make the most of that. Unfortunately there were two major issues with the forum – first, many people would just post a “i like it” response. I understand that all opinions are valid, but an unqualified “i don’t know art but i know what i like” type of response doesn’t help me further my skills. I need specifics – what works, what doesn’t, how to fix what doesn’t, where to go next. / The second problem was a large number of people using the forum as another self-promotion tool.. so you would spend up to an hour giving a really considered response to someone only to have them never return to read it. Do that a few times and it becomes quite tiresome. I’m not sure how to fix up the critique forum, and so now I’m looking elsewhere for help. The problem is how do I target those professionals with the skill and insight necessary to be able to provide me with real feedback.. and more importantly, if I find those people how do I justify asking them for help? Really, what I would like is a kind of mentoring program.. which, when I put it into words, does sound very selfish to my ears. I’m asking someone to take the time to give advice and direction. That’s a big ask. The other thing I would like is a seperate area on myBubble.. so have Art, T-Shirts and then this third work-in-progress type option.. somewhere I can post work that I specifically want feedback on, stuff that is unfinished and that i can develop over time. Does anyone else have any suggestions for how to learn and improve in your chosen field? Critique is most welcome ;)
