The Reaper by Paul Rees-Jones This is about the Reaper family, / A serious bunch, never too silly. Well, in truth, it’s about one, / One who reaps with a bit of fun. The youngest in the Reaper clan, / Quite a smart, little dead man. He brought a group of playful kids, / To the yard, oh yes he did. And why, you ask, would he save? / Just release them from their graves? When you are a Reaper Grim, / The days are long and awful dim. But to this small little reaper, / Loneliness ran a little deeper. So he made his friendly ghouls, / By breaking about 20 rules. But it’s worth it when the day is done, / Cause this lil Reaper finally has fun!

This artwork was featured in Inspired By Poetry and HALLOWEEN Definitely a departure from my usual stuff. And colour. I had a real strong desire to go blue with this as usual, but there was something about a warm colour that made the message come across more clearly. Inspired by the last stanza of a beautiful poem called “Life” by George Herbert (1593-1633). Farewell, dear flowers, sweetly your time ye spent, / Fit, while ye lived, for smell or ornament, / And after death for cures. / I follow straight without complaints or grief, / Since if my scent be good, I care not, if / It be as short as yours. ....Stock Credits…. / Sky/Field/Road / Death / Stock copyrights remain the property of their respective owners.
Models – Two of my girls [oneis hard to spot, have a good look for her] / Background image taken at Pontardawe River, Wales / / Ok – you will not believe the fun my daughters and I had while getting the shots for this composition. Firstly the eldest, got into the middle of a river to lay on the rock in this shot [almost drowning in the process], then later, the other posed as death, furnishing a bed quilt around her head, while trudging, deathlike, around the kitchen at home. How we got either shot, amazes me as we were rolling about laughing. hope you enjoy this as much as we did putting it together. / / My eldest dressed in black chiffon and used dark eye make up to add to the overall effect of death and beauty. Her pose was forced at first, and I had to get her to lay on this rock for quite a while to get a more relaxed looking pose from her [as a dead person should look I suppose]. The lighting at the location [a small local river in Pontardawe, Wakes UK] was perfect for the shoot, it was not so dark as to need any extra lighting, but dark enough to look soft, and the light flitering through the trees gave a good effect of spotlighting. /
