So, I had always sort of scoffed at the typical flower or bug photo and thought they were simply cliche and boring, but I have a new perspective on this practice and area of photography now. After several days of walking around my yard with an old manual macro lens I have learned how enjoyable it can be and have decided that it’s the Bee’s Knees! / I went out today and was very interested in the rain dripping from the apple blossoms in the orchard. I only am somewhat bothered by the seemingly more apparent spots from my sensor needing to be cleaned while I use my macro lens. I am able to clean it up in post, but I do need to get that cleaned. So, if you have never tried macro photography, and you ever wondered what all the fuss was about, It’s worth your time and will put a smile on your, and many other’s faces when they look at the photos you shoot through a macro lens. / Photography to some is a different way to look at the world around us. Macro photography is an even more different way to look at the world around you and will sometimes surprise even you. Sure, you could get a nice magnifying glass and lurk around the yard and see similar sights, but why not share the details you normally miss around you.

“Everything I’m not, made me everything I am” I was listening to this Kanye West song [no not because I have a crush, shut up!] and these words in particular spoke to me. It’s like we are so eager to define ourselves on another’s idea of who we are. We moan and cry about what we could have been, what our regrets are and what we could do if we go back in time. We talk so earnestly about what we lack Riches, / Courage, / Love, / Respect / and the list goes on / and on. It’s crazy when you think about it, that we have to have all these things in order to feel like we’re worth something in this world. The world accepted us from the moment we were born. We were accepted into this world, this life So why can’t we accept ourselves? In a way we have been tried to strive for something better, which is not a bad thing. We all have dreams and I say reach for the stars, but that should not mean in anyway that you are not good enough. I’m not some type of inspirational leader, just a girl wrapped up in her thoughts. And I’m thinking, there are so many things that so many of us are not And there are so many things that we are But eventually, because everything’s eventual, we’ll die and go wherever you believe you go when this life ends and wherever that place is, will the name you made for yourself, or the regrets that you’ve let weigh your heart even matter? Really? I’m a lot of things / And I’m not a lot of things / All and all, I’m Lorna / That’s it. / No more. Who are you?

The painting “The Battle Between You And Me” refers to the tumultuous time I spent with my ex-husband in a rather difficult marriage. He is the creature on the left with the sword and shield looking like a warrior on the offensive. I am the creature on my back in a defenseless and prone position having the “life” sucked out of me by him. This is not a hopeless tale, however, as you can see the crown is still on my head (I am still the hero of my own myth) and also, the giant eye and bolt of lightening that symbolize my awakening into the consciousness of my situation and the realization that I must get out of the relationship and move on with my life. And, finally, in the top right of the painting is the mandala, the symbol of wholeness and the fruit or the flower of what evolves from the creative struggle for autonomy and independence… / / The Battle Between You And Me

I have come to a point in my life where I’ve seen enough of one bad thing that I have to make a decision; continue on this path or make my own. Change what’s going on or act oblivious to it all until someone refreshes my memory with more drama. I went with change as I’ve grown tired of conflict. I’m sick of the bitter angle. These aren’t those words that are to come from a better man. This is a personal revelation. Nothing concerning loyalty to a founded religion; just a new perspective on how to deal with things as they come. It’s almost stifling now to imagine being stubborn. When I say I’m happy, I mean it. I don’t need further speculation just because of the circumstances surrounding the situation. I don’t care who’s MySpace says what and how that makes them whatever, so don’t bother with the informant’s role. I have other matters that concern me more-so than any of that garbage. I’ve also decided to work any conflict out I can in a calm and efficient manner. There is war in other parts of the world and by no means am I selfish enough to raise a fist in such a time. I can no longer contribute to the angry hand that’s casting it’s shadow over the nation. I will resort to passive outlets for aggression whenever it comes may come my way. I don’t see that as being too soon, though. Don’t get me wrong. My personality hasn’t exactly changed. I still have the same crude sense of humor I did before and cynical outlooks on certain matters. I just don’t seek a vengeful reward at another’s physical expense. This life is the only one any of us will ever know. Afterlife or not; this is the side of the margin considered “life.” Coexist without any unnecessary selfish conflict as we are share the same dimensional fabric. Choose your personal wars wisely and sparringly.
