This is an acrylic painting on a 16” x 16” canvas of Roath Park Lake, in Cardiff South Wales, UK. This is where I used to spend most of my youth playing. The Lighthouse was built as a memorial to Captain Scott’s expedition to the Antarctic, which left from Cardiff’s Bute Docks in 1910. I travelled back from Australia to visit my home town in 2000 and this is a painting from that trip. Memories Memories linger as time has past / of youthful play that I knew would not last / Places revisited, flashes of play / in my mind’s eye …will forever stay. This is a watercolor portrait of my daughter Louise, done with layers of watercolor and some mixed media in the background( gesso and pastels). I also used some red and white watercolor pencil on top of the watercolor paint once it was dried. The painting was made on Arches paper cold press (300lb) / Featured in the Watercolour_Pencil Art group /

This is a watercolor on paper (Fabriano Artistico Hot press 140lb) I used gouache in the background and some watercolor crayons for details and patterns in the background. Still trying to go more towards an imaginative, narrative semi-abstract style. I liked to give this one a title that could be the beginning of a story. / The little girl and birds are done by layering colors separating the yellows, reds and blue.
