There is hardly enough time or words to sum up Vincent Price properly. He was a teacher, an actor, a collector of art and a chef to name a few. He had a true philanthropists heart and was a man of many talents and a creative pioneer. He has left a fingerprint on our society and myself. In my portrait of Vincent, in every wrinkle I reproduced, in every mole I fastidiously drew and in every single hair I portrayed I see his achievements. There are many fine details in this portrait. You will see the veins in his eyes countered by the shine and drama I captured in them. You will see every wrinkle on his hand and every whisker in his mustache. It is designed to transport you back to the last film you may have seen him in and capture that vivid memory. As you study this piece you can almost hear his voice still speaking. The pastel colors of the sunlit background was the main focus in this painting. The cast of the sun rendered a pale hue to everything. Even the mood of the heron seemed affected. The original is painted in water mixable oils on 16”x20” hardboard.

This is a digital piece using my 1922 sheet music, my photo of a piano and the silhouette came from Wikipedia Commons. I altered and enhanced the original silhouette digitally for this piece. Music has always been a big part of my life, so I thought it was time to bring some of my musical influences into my art work. Realism in the visual arts and literature is the depiction of subjects as they appear in everyday life, without embellishment or interpretation.
