This woman is a victim of a seemingly never ending war in southern congo. She has suffered sexual violence (rape) so severe it has rendered her incontinent. She now exists purely as a result of a courageous charity called Heal Africa, and indeed her own inner strength and faith. I asked her if I could take her portrait and she stood up (which must have been painful), straightened her back and stared straight down the lens. No stopping to straighten her scarf, no preening, no fear. Just an honesty so raw, so uninhibited and so rare, I caught my breath and thought I’d never breath again. I was totally overpowered by her intensity. After I took the shot and showed it to her she smiled and thanked me. It still gives me a shiver to look at it now. HEAL Africa calendar available now!!! Photograph “to see a video of Israel Kamakawiwo’Ole” CLICK This is a photograph I took of my youngest daughter. When my daughters were younger, we used to tell Faery stories at bed time and take turns adding to the story. The stories were very long and often times they would be very revealing, these were happy memories for us so…….. I wanted to capture what one of those characters might have looked like, she was a Tree Faery and her hair was a birds nest, egg included.

I am so happy I did this, because we had to sell the bike. Maybe someday again if age doesn’t stop us, right now the economy hardship and being on the road with the truck, we decided to sell it to someone who would and could use it. My entry in to Weekend T-Shirt Challenge In the future the corporations will be running the world, instead of governments. For example: the USA maybe renamed “Coca-Cola”, Australia “Burger King”. Thus the corporations will also be at war with each other – like proper physical warfare with real weapons (the Cola Wars we have now are soft in comparison). Perhaps the person depicted here was not towing the party line, works for a rival cola company/country, was a corporate spy, or just showed up to work late… Oh, and it seems people 250 years in the future have lost their genitals too!
