This ground squirel has its cheeks full and is quite chubby. It will curl up in a ball in an underground burrow during the winter and hibernate. The picture was taken at Seven Falls Canyon in Colorado Springs, Co. ANY PROCEEDS FROM THE SALE OF THIS PICTURE ARE TO BE DONATED TO THE WILDLIFE APPEAL.

A turbulent year, reflected by storm , / with power, excitement and pain. / With coolness refreshing, like breezes in summer. / With tears like the sweet fall of rain. The winds carrying scents of some interesting place, / bring sand grains to prickle the skin of my face. / So has the year gone. The exquisite pleasure, / shining like lightning; a transient treasure, / now lost in the grey cloak’ed clouds.

These two brothers were just contrast of each other… the little one was just shy and the big brother, meaning of the word: Brave! / at the first moments he didnt even look at me… I thought he was scaring! but after some minutes, he turn to be Ok but not so easy! always at this mood… he was kinda ‘wonder for me by his age… a really “touching” look! Looks Best Full Size As I walked toward these wonderful, rickety old sheds near the Triadelphia Reservoir in Montgomery County, Maryland, this lovely creature alighted on the fence post and very obligingly posed for me. I caught this shot right before he floated away. I liked the way the butterfly and posts came out in nice crisp detail with the sheds and overgrown shrubs in a blurry bokeh. Image taken on June 15, 2009 with the Nikon D40x and the 18-200mm vr Nikon/Nikkor lens. Shutter speed 1/200, aperture 5.6, exp 0.00, iso 200.
