As I struggled to navigate through this site initially, a month or so ago, I was fortunate that several Bubblers were kind enough to share how they uploaded artwork to their profiles and art pages; links to music and videos and some other helpful tidbits which I recently shared with a few friends invited here… Hope this helps you present your amazing work easier, if you didn’t already know how… Clickable Link: / 1. Quotation mark / 2. What you want your link to say / 3. Quotation mark / 4. Colon / 5. URL code – http://www.etc…com Add Images: / 1. Upload Image, Title, Description, Tags, Groups & Items for sale – SAVE / 2. Click onto buy/preview and save to favorites the card, print and/or framed print, by right clicking image of card or print; then go back to artwork page / 3. In description box, add !exclamation point, then click to another browser tab / 4. Find image saved in favorites and click to highlight URL, Cut (ControlC), click back to browser tab with artwork / 5. Paste URL into description box and add !exclamation point / 6. You can add more than one photo of work (Tip: when saving in FAV, I add letter c (cards), L (laminated), M (mounted) & F (framed) when saving multiple images of same work. Just be sure to add !exclamation points before and after the URL. / 7. You can use this same process for adding to Profile Description Image Sizes: / For all sale items except clothing and calendars, the size of images uploaded should be 2500×3500, then in the ‘Items for sale’ section (below tags), you can check all: cards, mounted print, laminated print, canvas print, framed print and posters for sale. If someone requests Large prints, medium & large posters or laminated prints and/or calendars you can then upload a larger image. Profile Page: your URL for your profile will be www.redbubble.com/people/yourname to edit this page, you can add links to other sites and pictures like instructed above, in the describe yourself box. The daily feed question request has been helpful to me, not having to sign in daily. They’ll send you an email of your daily activity – you click onto any underlined feature, activity or comment and you are there – I save them in my email inbox, until I receive the next one. Challenges: RB just made most of the challenges really very easy as the group will send notice in your overview feed, click onto enter now and all the work you have uploaded will show up to chose from for entering; note whether they require a TAG, you may need to edit before entering. They have not yet mastered entering “writing” works, most groups do it in forums. Groups: join the ones you feel you can get the most exposure and follow their specific rules, you can click onto anyone in your watchlists’ list of groups to seek commonalities. Or, while looking at artwork posted by others, on the right side where the description is – below are underlined groups that have accepted the artwork and you can click those to learn more. Watchlist: Add people you feel share the same tastes in artwork for support – by clicking on names of commenters, bubblemailers or checking my watchlist and reading profiles, seeing artwork & groups in common. Bubblesite/Gallery: this URL is different than your Profile page it would be http://yourname.redbubble.com – you can click this tab on your page to build and manage it as you add artwork – I suggest you get used to some of the above, so you have optimum pricing and exposure for items for sale. The templates are easy and to manage, you click and drag your artwork into categories you chose. Customers can buy directly from your gallery, without being redbubble members, or you can simply share the URL with friends to see your photos. Written works are not included in the gallery, but all photos uploaded for sale will automatically be in the Manage section to be added to the categories you move them to, I manage my gallery once weekly. Text Formatting: / BOLD to make text bold =bold / Italic to make text italic =italic / Underline to underline text =underlined / Small Text make text smaller =smaller text Comments: when someone comments on your work, you can reply (click) and they will receive a feed that you responded – if they are rude (click report) or delete – when you just comment below you will be the only one who knows. Many RB members have asked me how I did my home page to look the way it does and I thought I would enter a journal to describe just how it was done. I hope it will be of help to you all. HOW TO USE LINKS AND IMAGES TO ENHANCE YOUR RB HOME PAGE / (To get this, go to your own online gallery site, choose your favourite banner (usually supplied by the web hosts) , right click on the image, choose properties & copy the full URL-address. Then open your “EDIT MY PROFILE”-link, put an exclamation mark (!) and then paste the copied URL-address of the image and end again with an exclamation mark (!). It will look like this (remember, DO NOT PUT IN ANY SPACES BETWEEN THE ADDRESS AND THE EXCLAMATION MARKS!) ! http://www.imagekind.com/images/buttons/buy_my_art.gif ! / (These two icons, I got from the two RedBubble Groups in their Forum Postings. Go check & find your links there. Then do the same as above.) eg. ! http://images-1.redbubble.com/img/art/cropped/size:small/view:main/958066-1-pimt-logo.jpg ! and ! http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/7122/1on1iu5.png ! To put shortcut images on your home page, follow the next steps: / 1) Go to your PUBLIC PROFILE (Open in another tab so you keep your EDIT PROFILE tab open to work on) / 2) Click on VIEW ALL ART (underneath your featured images – the big ones) / 3) Choose the pic you want to display on the front page, right click on the image, go to PROPERTIES, highlight the full URL-ADDRESS, close (OK). / 4) Go to EDIT MY PROFILE tab, type in an ! (exclamation mark), right click & paste the URL ADDRESS you copied. / 5) Now you can do one of two things: / (a) Just add the image without linking it to the picture (where people leave their comments) This is done by just typing the !, followed by the URL ADDRESS, ending with another ! (Remember, no spaces). Eg. ! http://images-0.redbubble.net/img/art/size:small/view:main/1580804-1-shed-a-tear-at-my-beauty.jpg ! Also remember to highlight the full URL-ADDRESS when you copy, i.e. see to it that you have a .jpg or .png or .gif at the end of the address and a http://images-0.redbubble.net ….. at the beginning as shown in the example. / (b) Add the image and the link taking the user to the page where your image is displayed. This is done as follows: Follow steps 1 to 4 above, type in an exclamation mark (!), followed by the FULL URL-ADDRESS, then another exclamation mark. Now add a colon ( : ). Leave as is and then go to the page (in another tab or a new page) where your photo/image is displayed to the public (the place where people can leave comments). Look at the top (all the way up where your Internet Explorer Page shows the URL-ADDRESS of the page you are on now) eg. http://www.redbubble.com/people/craftloft/art Copy this address by highlighting all and right click and copy. Go back to your EDIT YOUR PROFILE tab, paste this copied info immediately after the colon ( : ). No exclamation mark is necessary at the end of this procedure. / 6) Follow these steps with all the images you want to put on your front page. Remember to put a space between EACH image description if you want to put your images next to each other. And when you’ve added five images, remember to enter and then start with the next five images, etc. until you are finished. When you’re finished remember to save your work. I always save and then view my public profile in another tab to see if I made mistakes. / 7) As shown on my home page, I usually just put five xsmall pics next to another, but the size I explained above, is for small images. If you want the images to be as small as mine just change the small part of the URL address to xsmall by typing in the x* before the *small in the copied URL ADDRESS of the image (under properties). Eg. http://images-2.redbubble.net/img/art/size:small/view:main/1620163-2-swan-wannabe.jpg Change the small to xsmall and you get the same size pics as shown below. Newest Artworks – Not on my Home Page! / / / / / ________________________ ARTWORKS, DESIGNS & PHOTOS CHOSEN AS GROUP AVATARS / – the avatar (3 August 2008 to 13 August 2008) for the National Parks of the World Group hosted by Philip Johnson and Scott Robertson. / - the avatar for the Public Art Group hosted by Alan Findlater and Roslyn Lunetta and it’s web counterpart Public Art To do the above, do the following: / a) Choose the image you want (by going to the tab where your image is shown under VIEW ALL ART in your public profile. / b) Click on the image which will take you to the page where your image is shown to the public for commenting. / c) Next to your big picture, on the right hand side, there is a buy-banner ( ) which shows a choice between cards and prints. If you want to put a card on your home page, then choose CARDS. / d) When the card is displayed, right click on the image, choose PROPERTIES, highlight the FULL URL-ADDRESS and right click copy. / e) Go to the EDIT MY PROFILE tab – Put an exclamation mark, paste the copied info, follow steps 1 to 5 as explained above. / f) If you want to put a link to the group where your work is featured do the following: / i) Put quotation marks ( “ ) Type the name of the group, type quotation marks ( “ ) again, immediately followed by a colon ( : ) Leave as is for the moment. / ii) Go to the group’s main page in another tab. Use your Internet Explorer URL-ADDRESS (at the top of your page), right click and copy. / iii) Go back to the tab where your EDIT YOUR PROFILE tab is and immediately after the colon ( : ), paste the address you copied. REMEMBER: NO SPACES BETWEEN ANYTHING!!! eg.” National Parks of the World Group ” : http://www.redbubble.com/groups/ontario-provincial-parks-art / ________________________ VIEW PER GALLERY TRADITIONAL ART _PAINTINGS: People Portraits & Faces _PAINTINGS: Animals _PAINTINGS: Trees & Plants _PAINTINGS: Flowers (To do the above layout, use steps 1 to 7 as explained above) But instead of putting images next to each other, just enter after each image’s coding for display to show your pics as above. Also follow step (f) of steps a to f above, to link to the different sections you want to show! ) HOW TO CATEGORIZE YOUR ART / 8) When you upload an image, choose a TAG as description, eg. ANCIENTEGYPT and tag all the images fitting this description with exactly the same named tag. When you’re finished, go to the tab where you EDIT YOUR PROFILE. / 9) First, add your best image of this section, (by now you must already know how to do this) as follows: ! http://images-2.redbubble.net/img/art/cropped/size:xsmall/view:main/1076850-2-nefertiti-mysterious-and-powerful.jpg !, then space bar, then a quotation mark ( “ ), then the name of your SECTION, eg. PAINTINGS: People of ANCIENT EGYPT (Leave as is for the moment) / 10) Open in another tab any redbubble page (it could be the home page or your own profile page, it doesn’t matter). Check for the SEARCH-button. In front of it is an open space where you can type in the tag you just named, eg. ANCIENTEGYPT. / 11) Click on SEARCH. This will show all the work you tagged as ANCIENTEGYPT. / 12) Go to the top of the Internet Explorer Page, copy the URL-Address. / 13) Go back to your tab where you EDIT YOUR PROFILE. Immediately after the quotation mark ( “ ) , type in the name of your section, eg. Paintings:Ancient Egypt. Type in another “ , then right click and paste the address you copied in step 12. Now the closing will look as follows (Remember: no spaces before or after the name you give): “ Paintings: Ancient Egypt ” : http://www.redbubble.com/search/ANCIENT EGYPT_ ______________________ / You can do the same with the part below. Now just change the section (tagged description) with the group and group URL. Hi all, Just a quick note to let you know that I have fixed some bugs and updated my RB utilities. Here is the summary: RB Utility – Top Tens (displays your wins and top-ten placements) / Now displays WINs as well as Top Tens. Also there are two cut & paste options for journals (full description) and for your profile (just the icon), both with “hover text” that shows when the cursor is placed over the picture. RB Utility – All Challenges & Entries (shows what groups are running challenges and what you have entered) / Now handles descriptions with single quote marks correctly, has correct links for the artwork, shows the correct time left for the challenge and now gives the option on the login screen, for choosing to see only Open or Voting challenges (default is both) RB Utility – Which groups is my art in (shows all of your artwork with a list of which groups each has been accepted in) / No updates yet, but expect a major re-vamp soon, to speed it up, as well as a sibling utility for showing the same information but sorted by group (i.e. by group, which art pieces you have submitted to that group) – watch this space… RB Utility – My Features (cut & paste links to your latest features) / Although this information is readily available in RB, this utility provides the feature descriptions in RB format, ready for cut & pasting into journals and profiles (similar to the output of the “Top Tens” above) RB Utility – All My Work (A “wall” with all your work on one page) / New utility that gives you a thumbnail wall of all your work on one page. Clicking on a thumbnail will take you to the editing page for that work. Invaluable if you have over 100 photos and can’t remember what page they are on! I hope you find these useful and enjoy using them. I have written these for my own use, and I have become entirely dependent on them. (apologies for the re-posting, I was told by RB to make this a journal entry rather than a “writing” entry – please re-favorite this entry instead) Calling all Groupies… I’ve recently been preparing a number of RB utilities to make my life easier, which I will share with all of you to use. This is a utility for displaying each of your art works, with a list of which groups it has been submitted to. All on a single page. Disclaimer: this has nothing to do with RB, don’t go blaming them if it goes wrong. This is just me, making my life easier and sharing it out :-) Comments, suggestions, criticism all welcome! :-) My Art in Groups: / http://www.documentmanagement.org.uk/rb/RBartgroups.php By default, it displays the latest 20 pieces of art, but you can change that number up or down on the login screen. Use 999 to get everything. WARNINGS / 1) This utility will take a while to run. It has a lot to do to collect that info. Be patient! / 2) The utility does not store passwords, but it doesn’t use encryption either. If your RB password is the same as your bank account’s – Change it! / 3) Don’t get confused by the checkboxes next to the groups name, they don’t actually do anything! I hope you find it useful. A Painting by : Shree / Expressive Excellence by : Wendy Slee Well friends this is a painted moment of two sisters swinging together after whole days work, where one is elder sister and another is younger sharing and discussing their friendly issues from their lives. I wanted to show their love, bond, respect, intimacy, closeness, affection, feeling of security and a sense of friendship being two real sisters that they can share and exchange anything as they are more like friends than sisters. In my country India its a tradition that after the family lunch or a dinner all the males sit together in a family room to relax and share a little talk on general issues and all the ladies of the house sit in ladies room where in the centre there is a big engraved swing hanged and the eldest lady of the house sit along with others on that swing and they too share and make fun on their daily issues. My artistic painting is excellently expressed by one of the finest artists on RB – WENDY SLEE…read her awesome poetic thoughts and enjoy this swinging moments .!!!!!!! A moment in time, / Gently swinging, / Carefree, / The future poised, anticipating, / For a moment holds its breath, / Potential radiates out in all directions / Awaiting our choices, / The waves we will make, / Such simple footsteps, / Our perfect creation. Back and forth / We ebb and flow / In peaceful acknowledgement / Like the tides, / Rhythmic and harmonic / Children, daughters, sisters, / Then mothers and grandmothers, / The perpetual unfurling and / Inevitable drawing of life back into itself / And beyond. If you are into RB challenges, one of the biggest frustrations is trying to remember what you have entered in which challenge, and trying to remember to keep checking if your entries have finished in the top ten. This little utility, goes through all the challenges in your groups that have completed, and shows you any entries that have finished in the top ten of the challenge, including their ranking. It shows them in reverse order, so the latest ones come first. In addition (if you leave the checkbox ticked on the login screen) it will print out the exact text you need to cut & paste into your RB journals for each top-ten. UPDATE: 14 Jan 2009 / New version, now shows winners as well as top-tens. It also includes hover text for the images with today’s date included, ready to cut & past into your journals/profiles Disclaimer: this has nothing to do with RB, don’t go blaming them if it goes wrong. This is just me, making my life easier and sharing it out Top Tens: / http://www.documentmanagement.org.uk/rb/RBTopTens.php WARNINGS / 1) This utility will take a while to run.
