Derwent soft pastels. I had so much fun drawing this.

Graphite For the Pencil group’s contest.

This was for a study of fabric and how it relates to figure drawings, the transitions from one plane to the next. My professor basically tied up an Apollo statue. Could have some symbolism if wanted. An art work’s interpretation doesn’t have to stay true with the artist’s. This of course is in charcoal.

Figure Drawing Series. The left is charcoal on white BFK Rives paper and the right is white charcoal on black paper. To me it’s about the duality of form. The two figures are competing against each other but are united. Faceless women portraying the everyday woman and the competition that we as women can sometimes have against each other whether it be our looks, our workplace, or at home. It also has a formalist point. By blurring your vision or squinting your eyes, it can become abstract with two V’s present the viewer can interpret whatever they desire. I’m horrible at describing my work. This was done by a photographic reference from a redbubble member, Barssel. Check out his work, he’s an excellent photographer. http:.//www.redbubble.com/people/barssel

Double exposure of a tree and my “limb.” Promaster 35 mm with a 50 mm lens.

Charcoal, This is a drawing I did of my hand and my friend commented that it looked like a lady who got her skirt blown up and got caught. The ring finger on the far left side is her hand and the two fingers of course are her legs. Do you see it?

My self-portrait. This was done a few months ago in charcoal. My hair is shoulder-length now and I have side bangs. I tried a loose approach leaving the face smooth and attempted to make it photographic and the hair loose. I’m not crazy about the background, I should have gone with a more smoothly toned background. I tried.

This drawing appears to be on regular notebook paper but is actually on a paper that would be about double the size of notebook paper. I created the illusion of notebook paper to give it that note taking… look. It’s about how the ideal women from then and now is so different and about me studying the progress of what is ideal now and the obsession of perfection and how negatively it’s affecting women of today. It’s a poor photo and the writing is hard to read but I’ll try and include some closer photos so you can read it. It’s basically the definition of perfect at the top, statistics of anorexia and eating disorders at the bottom, notes on old works such as the venis de milo, woman from willendorf, and so on.

drawing about the love between two lesbian women

“Don’t even think about stealing my wine!” This was a crazy still life drawing I did. I basically taped a rodent’s skull onto a figure drawing doll and put him in what I like to refer as a “Playgirl pose” and set a wine glass and a rose behind it. This was done in charcoal.

Charcoal drawing I did over a bumpy surface. At the time, I didn’t have a flat board or an easel haha, soo.. I used my wall and this cool effect happened. I usually refer to it as my Leonardo hand because it somewhat reminds me of his work. NOT that I compare myself to that master although it is my dream to be just half as good as him. Oh, and I used my hand as the model. This was done in probably 30 mins and it’s not meant to be completely rendered.

Charcoal, subject is self-explanatory. It was a gag. Explicit theme.

A lonesome tree finds comfort in its reflection. shrugs Haha. What can I say, the picture is what it is. Photographed with Promaster 35 mm with a 50 mm lens.

My Parents
by RayvenI drew this for my parents for Xmas. I took three photos and put them into one. As far as skill wise, I think this is my best charcoal drawing.

This is Ashley, one of our models for our figure drawing class at APSU. She is gorgeous and was a great model. I only wish I could have had more time to do other poses.

pastel drawing of a village by the sea. Thoroughly enjoyed this. It’s looser than what I usually work with and been experimenting with new media.

Today I started on a portrait of my parents for part of their Christmas present. They don’t have any good pictures of themselves up anywhere in the house and I think they would really enjoy this. So far, I have it sketched out. I got a little frustrated with it though and walked away. I ended up falling asleep and waking up with both my little dog and my cat in my lap. Heehee. I hope it turns out as well as I hoped. I’ll post it up when it’s finished. :D
