One day, not that long ago, she appeared out of the raw canvas and she was very welcome!
This image is the 1st in a series of 3….. My inspiration behind this are all the lovely wedding images that I see; full of hope, happiness and love, but as we all know the divorce rate is very high and unfortunately many of the beautiful and happy couples divorce… It makes me wonder how would these couples feel if they knew that a few years down the road and a couple of children later, their union would end in divorce. These are the emotions I have tried to capture and portray in my series. And I would like to add a huge thank you to my model and best friend who was also my inspiration as she too recently divorced but was still brave enough to get back into her beautiful wedding dress for this shoot.

Looking down the gorge from the lower bridge, Falls of Bruar . I’m particularly impressed by the colours and the smooth glistening rocks. This area is rich in geology (an extension of the Loch Tay fault?): there’s a lot of limestone and other metamorphic sedimentary rocks (layered slate, possibly some schist) and a bit of red sandstone nearby, all folded making rakish angles. Taken on the Shen Hao 5×4” large-format camera with Fuji Velvia (old RVP emulsion) film.
My question is.. How do you feel and react when you know that your marriage is over? I personally can’t imagine the feeling but I have seen my best friend and model go through it first hand and it’s a total feeling of loss, hopelessness and sadness. My apologies for being melancholy but this is the unfortunate reality for many couples. Again, thank you to my beautiful model and friend…...

www.cathleentarawhiti.co.nz Before / I originally named this ‘Heavy Breathing’ because it looked like someone had been, yes, heavy breathing from underneath. But it proved a tad confusing so I have renamed it Raw. Probably as confusing. Never mind, just look at the pretty picture :) Featured in Still Life and Food Photography / Thank you Sharon. This was the first mating action of the morning for these lions, which is usually the most violent (as you can see here)! We were really lucky to find them just after first light while the park was still empty! / / / (Samburu National Park – Kenya) / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /
Looks vibrant on alot of the colours. Try it on white, black and the darker tones! enjoy.
This is my 3rd and final piece in this series and I believe it closes this chapter yet leaves the door open to endless possibilities. This piece represents the past , present and a greener yet unwritten future. I believe we are all very resilient; can come through hardship and triumph in our unpredictable journey through life…... Again, a huge thank you to my friend and model…. / Nikon D80 / 18-200mm lens
Low Cloud rolling over the Rocky Mountains in the Icefields Parkway – Alberta, Canada. Contrast was edited through Lightroom & Photoshop.
Bridge near Coalcliff, NSW, Australia
What’s really disturbing about this piece is that I drew it before I went to sleep last night… EDIT: Sorry to all those who liked it better in blue, I had to edit it to suit the new printing better and the blue I had just didn’t quite work with it anymore.

Signed by the artist and completed in January 2007. ABOUT THIS: Up in the trees in a dark winters day. The sun is setting and the cold wind is blowing. It starts to snow and you hear the empty echo of where you are. The snow is creating a heavy fog. You can not see. You stumble around trying to move through the fog and snow but you fall victim to the harsh conditions. You suddenly fall paralyzed on the cold hard ground. In your last moments you hear wings flap and the loud screech of an owl.
