Walhalla Goldfields Railway. Victoria. This unique narrow gauge train winds it’s way down Stringers Creek Gorge from Walhalla to Thomson River. The railway opened in 1910 but was never a success …. it closed in 1944 and the line was pulled up. It has now been re-opened by enthusiasts who have lovingly restored this picturesque journey. / / Walhalla Rail Website 1st Place and Best Exhibit Colour Print, Lilydale A&H Show, November ‘08

EC Gardener publish an amazing close up of a garter snake today – rare in her area. She was bit in the process and heroically still took one crisp shot! I thought she’d get a laugh at my best attempt to photo a rattler found last fall. he was cossing the road and to avoid hitting him my brother and I stopped and thought we’d get a photo{0: He would not sit still. Even coiled up he blurred from incessant striking after us. / I took one coming to me and it blurred and he luckily struck my boot! My best’but poor photo is here. He was not delayed from his journey but five exciting minutes! Kids don’t do this at home. Only idiots do this!

Ok this was one of the last shots of the hike! We were just heading back to the car when my assistant yelled snake. Me being me I whip around to see where the snake is.. My assistant points to my feet! I look down and my heart goes right into my mouth! I am approximately 4 inches from this guy.My first instinct was to do the fire in your pants dance… I had to force myself to stay calm and slowly move backwards. So then of course i grabbed my camera lol. Talk about a close encounter!!!!! ( david is this a rattler ?) lol ok so apparently this guy is a harmless garter snake lol but i must admit he scared the dickens out of me lol
