Digital work done from photos I’ve taken. This piece is derived from some very long road trips I took around the western United States in the seventies when the so called gas rationing was going on at that time. I remember thinking what a hoax and now those trips seem like such a fantasy.

“Logos (not to be confused with corporate logo’s) is an important term in philosophy, analytical psychology, rhetoric and religion. It derives from the Greek verb legō: to count, tell, say, or speak.” The idea of the Logos also has strong Christian resonances.. Christ said “I am the word” and is described as “the word made flesh” The idea of making simple pictures entirely with words and letters appeals to me.. I also like the idea of mixing the simple and the complex. The “words” if you were able to read them.. have many individual meanings.. and every word conjures up a thought. I have deliberately obscured the individual meanings of the words to stop them detracting from the overall effect, because this is an image using words, not an image with words.. a simple and complex picture.. but also with a vast number of indecipherable meanings.
