This was taken at the Wild Life Heritage Foundation in Kent, UK. It is a centre that is used to help with rare breeds and breeding programs, education on the animals etc. This was taken on a 1 day photo course run by wild life photographer Chris Weston.

This group of horses caught my eye.. it was a very nice day and this group were not going to let me get too close. Turkmenian Eagle Owl this Beauty is only 17 weeks old ! ........ (-: Very large owl with prominent ear tufts and vivid orange eyes, with a deep resonant “ooh-hu” with emphasis on the first syllable. From Europe across Russia to Pacific, South to Iran, Pakistan across to China and Korea, Mainly remote rocky areas, river valleys, ravines, quarries etc. also open forest, Taiga, steppe and semi desert. Eats mainly mammals from shrews up to foxes and young deer. Also a wide range of birds, reptiles and amphibians. Rare or uncommon through most of its range. Becoming very scarce in parts of Europe.

Photo taken in Maandowie Bush Reserve, Loftus, NSW, Australia In 2002/2003 this plant was discovered in Maandowie Bushland Reserve, Loftus, NSW, Australia during bush regeneration activities. Formal identification was not done due to the regeneration work load. In 2004 it was found growing in the Menai area, about 5 kilometers from Maandowie. It was sent for formal identification and was confirmed to be a hitherto unknown species of Hibbertia. There are about 60 known specimens growing in the Menai area and 90 in Maandowie. Due to its limited range and the small number of plants it has officially been classified as rare and endangered by the NSW government.

A pair of Black Rhinos. Like all Rhino species, the Black Rhinoceros is critically endangered mainly because of poaching. It is well known that Rhino Horn is highly prized in the Orient as an aphrodisiac. Another less publicized problem is that Rhino Horn is used to fashion dagger handles for wealthy men in Yemen, just across the Red Sea from East Africa.

Watercolour paper 24×30” / from….. / Memories of My Grandmother Series…......When I was a very small boy in Texas, we lived maybe a quarter of a mile from the “Monte” (the Woods) I would go with my grandmama, to the monte to pick wild cherries and flowers, my Grandmother loved flowers, and Roses were her favorite, Funny how I still remember that after all these years. She has been gone now for 30 years this September but I still remember her and going to pick flowers and wild cherries in “The Monte” like it was yesterday, and it makes me cry…....She was the sweetest, kindest, most generous, loving / soul that I has ever encountered, in all my travels through time and space, and I know she is still with me, and still looks after me. / One bright sunny day in the monte I saw these beautiful, (even as a child I couId recognize beauty, I guess I have always been an artist), didn’t know what kind of flowers they were, and I called my grandmama, and was about to pick them, when my grandmama, said No, don’t pick them….for they were “Wild Roses” supposely rare. She said they were free spirits that grew in the wild, and someday mi hijo, (my son) I will be like them. Still makes me cry…...

Hardy terrestrial orchids include some the rarest & showiest perennials for the garden. These deciduous plants are indigenous to the temperate zones Eurasia and North America. They require woodland conditions for cultivation, preferring shade to part-shade and rich, well-draining soil; somewhat moist. Hardy orchids bloom at 3 – 6 years of age, depending upon the species. Tanvir the tiger was on the local news this morning, Hes a new Two year old tiger from Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm, Wraxell, near Bristol.He has two massive enclosures and one area there has a huge veiwing platform for him to climb, The first time he went up on it he decided he was too scared to come back down, he gave the keepers a scare as his crying could be heard all over and it took hours and hours for him to pluck up the courage to jump back down, Aww. The Zoo’s Aim is to breed him to thier Female Kushja, aged 4, they already inrtoduced the two tigers, but she beat him up and hurt his paw, because hes only two hes not mature enough to entice the female, hehe hope she was not watching him being a scaredy cat hehe. This park have plans for the future to let the young cubs born there to live in another enclosure as if wild, and they hope maybe one day these tigers will be re inroduced back into the wild where they belong, If you live near, please do visit this place, so much to do there and lots to see.More news to follow hehe which includes me lol dawn / noah’s ark Website / Dawn’s website / /
