Like a fairytale castle Mont Saint Michel at dusk in the rain, I got wet and cold but it was worth it for images like this. A blended exposure using HDR techniques. All money raised in the sale of my art until November goes towards the Steven T. Hill Stroke Foundation. This was captured after a rain storm, while we were on holidays at Lorne. The sky lit up as though it was on fire, with the clouds reflecting the late afternoon sun and the resulting water lying on the pier also mirrored the sky and the couta boat, docked there.
Nature is softer than silk.
Another work from the series “Red Umbrella”
In the warm summer night, I watched this amazing dry storm cell pass over me from the West. It looked like it was going to cross right over top of me – so I made an escape plan (run like hell!) But in the end, it turned north and head away from me – not before I captured this. Camera Tech / Make: SONY / Model: DSLR-A100 / Shutter Speed: 50 second / F Number: F/4.0 / Focal Length: 18 mm / ISO Speed: 80 / Date Picture Taken: Jan 27, 2007, 10:04:06 PM
I took this shot in Nice, France. The original shot was non-digital, so I took a digital photo of the shot and tried a blue tint. I kind of like it this way…it’s like he’s a detective and only The Shadow Knows…for sure. :) / I originally caption titled the photo: / Pondering My Past, Present & Future / (seems like this chap could be doing that as well). Sold 1 Mounted Print to a mystery RB buyer in England.
a fine love of a beardy captain and a beast of the sea.
Stock Photo Credit: / Model / Background Also used various Photoshop brushes and filters to create lightning, rain and light Once again I was delighted to be Bubblemailed by another fantastic poet, who brought my attention to a poem she had wrote that made her think of this piece of art.* Storm by binjy accompanies this artwork beautifully: Storm With clouds boiling fiercely in soft cloaks of grey, / and the light of the gods in the sky- / I bared my soul to the force of the night, / and wished the past year goodbye. A turbulent year, reflected by storm , / with power, excitement and pain. / With coolness refreshing, like breezes in summer. / With tears like the sweet fall of rain. The winds carrying scents of some interesting place, / bring sand grains to prickle the skin of my face. / So has the year gone. The exquisite pleasure, / shining like lightning; a transient treasure, / now lost in the grey cloak’ed clouds.
This is for Mike, one of the weather guys on the Cocos Islands. Everyday we would ask him what the forecast was, and everyday he would reply “Mostly fine, chance of a shower”! I guess this was the “chance of a shower” bit! Mike is a great guy with lots of wonderful stories from his time spent living all around Australia. I took this shot of the marina… it was cold, wet and foggy
We had a rare thunderstorm in Lebanon yesterday night and I took some shots. This one is take from “Ain Saade”, a village about 600meters above sea level from my balcony. the city that you can see is Beirut, Lebanon’s capital. My camera was secured on a tripod and each exposure was about 25 to 30seconds with white balance set to tungsten to compensate for light pollution of the city. This one is a combination of 3 shots each having 1 to 3 bolts in different places and merged in Photoshop using the “lighten” blending mode. After that mainly S-curves to increase contrast. If interested you can check this tutorial for tips about thunder photography . Right place, right time for this shot! Wanted to shoot the Devils Kitchen in the Noosa Heads National Park, but the sky didn’t agree with landscape photography on this afternoon. Hanging around shooting my favorite subjest, eagles, this offshore rainstorm came rolling in. The setting sun came out, and supplied this wonderful scene! By far the most illuminated rainbow I have ever seen, it was so bright.. Canon 50D, 10mm, Available Large, and definately best viewed Large! Noosa Heads National Park, Queensland, Australia.

One caught a few months back, and one of my favorites of the day, but for some reason I overlooked it. Was the first day I purchased my new Wide Angle lens for the 5D Mk II, full frame. I ended up buying the 16-35mm f2.8 L II, and she is a beauty! All I need now if the time to get out and capture more of the beautiful mother nature at work :) The wreck of the “SS Dicky”, at Dicky Beach, Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.
