• The Season of Thy Heart

  This is an old poem I have never published. It was written when I was about 20 or so and interested in visionary poetry. I walked to the botanic gardens in town with the specific intention of writing it only to be held at knifepoint and have my wallet stolen on north terrace. Never having been mugged before it was pretty surreal especially since it was in broad daylight with lots of people around. Surprisingly, all I really wanted to do was keep going to the garden and make out like nothing happened so thats what I did and this is what I wrote. I haven’t posted it before becuase often I feel critical of it being a little new-agey and corny but actually there are still many dimensions to its play behind the scenes that I enjoy. So here it begins, the season of thy heart, the hope I was longing to create when I felt very little. The joy I wished I had back then – perhaps I have it now.
