I’ve been on a mission to conquer the abstract-a true measure of an artist, I think, as there is no ‘reality’ to compare it too, no likeness to draw close to. Just you. You decide to continue, or when to stop. When to use the ‘f’ word-as we used to tease our sculpture teacher>there is no such thing as ‘finished’. I think there is. the energy passes-it’s time-if you go over, it become overworked and pushed, forced. And therein lies the art.

It was about 9am in Norther Manitoba when I shot that sunrise…It is still very dark for that time of the day, considering that at 4pm later today, it’s going to be pitch black. / Taken on January 14th/08 Have a nice day!!!

mixed media on masonite box I began this artwork after I experienced my first earthquake in Maui…not knowing where I was going with it…as usual. i had made a connection with Pele when i first arrived in the Hawaiian Islands. Before I had even landed and knew anything about the legend, I was drawing her in my journal. The legend always portrayed her as dark yet I never felt her that way. As she entered the art work I felt her seduction. It was a playful one. And so she BECAME creator/destroyer….....rising to heights well deserved….since within the destruction of her wake was left a newborn island. She gave us the rock of paradise. ...rainbows, sunshine, jungle flora, mountains, turquoise waters…......ALL of the juice of LIFE. Gotta LOVE her for that!!! / /

In search of the pink and blue sky,My 10 year old neighbour Teagan and I left at 4.50pm I had set my camera up on its tripod,we didn’t have much time and I said to her ,”see if you can find a better position”,trusting her advise I picked up and ran with tripod and camera attached to catch this ,the colours are pretty much natural I just added some contrast and adjusted the shadow filter,just another day in paradise.
