My Cup runneth over?
this was taken at the harbour in Kiama NSW on a very dark and gloomy afternoon. / Twin rainbows can be seen both sides of the lighthouse as well as the shadows from the storm clouds overhead.
Rainbow near American Fork Canyon
A brilliant rainbow appears briefly during an evening rain shower. This is the same rainbow as in “Storm Gift”. I changed my point of view slightly in this version and also brought the image a bit closer with my 12-24 zoom lens. The colors, too, are closer to what I was seeing. I like both versions but I think perhaps this is my favorite.
We had some awesome storm/rain clouds on Tuesday afternoon, August 5, 2008 due to Tropical Depression Edouard. We didn’t get much rain at all, but the clouds were so cool. We even had a double rainbow in the sky, caught me by surprise. I was taking this shot, when I turned around in the opposite direction, there was this huge rainbow, with another forming on top of it. Talk about taking my breath away. It was so big and so close I couldn’t get the whole rainbow in one frame. I hope to share part of the rainbow after reviewing what I was able to get :) This was taken as the sun was beginning to set and I hope you can see the pinks and blues in the clouds. I can also make out an image of a small child who looks to be praying (in the bottom right-hand corner), let me know if you see it too.
Taken at Merewether baths in Newcastle as a storm breaks up out to sea.
Yesterday out my kitchen window.

A storm shrouds the White Mountains on the right as a full rainbow appears for only a few minutes. I was lucky enough to frantically get my camera ready and get my exposure set in time to snap this panorama before this spectacle of light disappeared. 5 shot Panorama All images are © Nolan Nitschke. Took this rainbow from home after a big afternoon storm had just passed over….
Shot was taken by Limestone Lake on the Hanson Lake Road in Northern Sask.Canada, these clouds came up suddenly with a terrible wind, and hard rain,it lasted about 10 min, then the sun came out and gave us this beautiful rainbow in the center od the cloud. / I added saturation and fixed some flaws, as it was scanned from an old photo / /
Hope is the thing with feathers / That perches in the soul, / And sings the tune without the words, / And never stops at all, And sweetest in the gale is heard; / And sore must be the storm / That could abash the little bird / That kept so many warm. I’ve heard it in the chillest land, / And on the strangest sea; / Yet, never, in extremity, / It asked a crumb of me. / Emily Dickinson / Schell Creek Mountains – Northern Steptoe Valley / Eastern Nevada / (2009.JUL.04) RedBubble Album: Great Atmosphere Blessing Mother Earth Canon 350D EOS / Canon EF-S 18/55mm
I visited the South Head of Sydney Harbour a few weeks ago hoping to get some long range shots of the city. It was sunny when I left but just as I was climbing the rocks towards the gap it started to rain & I didn’t have a brolly. / Protecting the camera came first & fortunately it was just a short shower but it provided this dramatic image out to sea. My friend Desiree has got my permission to use this image on her metaphysical seminar website. When I asked her why she liked it she replied … “I love this shot because it shows the range of emotions we weather, and while we focus on one aspect we rarely see the entire picture. This photo captures it all in one take… the storm, the sunlit cloud, the brooding atmosphere, the clear sky and the intense section of rainbow – a metaphor for our lives.”
