As I was taking a few shots of this beautiful scenery in the vertical format, this beautiful Australasian Gannet flew right past me. I could have almost stuck my hand out and touched him, incredable experience! I guess he didn’t see me, as I was on the edge of the cliff with a shrub to my left. I’m glad I was shooting when he flew past, and on the +-0 stop frame too!! Canon 50D, 10mm. Devils Kitchen, Noosa Heads National Park, Queensland, Australia. Bird is an Australasian Gannet, these beautiful coastal birds are a bird of prey, and dive sometimes from large heights for school bait fish.

It was real, but it looked like a dream. The clouds rolled up the valley and the rainbow appeared to me, a beautiful memory. This amazing valley connects to the ocean at the Waimea Bay. Believe it or not, this is not a “fantasy” image, created in a computer. This is a real photograph of a very real place! This is Rainbow Falls, in Watkins Glen State Park, located in upstate New York at the lower end of Seneca Lake. It is one of the most unbelievable places I have ever seen! I thank God and NY State for this most beautiful place on earth! Lush green ground vegetation and beautiful trees punctuate the enormous rock cliffs and the numerous waterfalls. The sound of flowing water is like natures music that accompanies you throughout your hike in the gorge. This photograph was captured with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens on a Canon EOS 10D DSLR body. The aperture was f/4, shutter speed 1/15th sec at 40mm focal length. The camera & Lens were mounted on a Manfrotto tripod with a Manfrotto “joystick” ball head. A remote shutter release was used to minimize movement. No flash. Your comments are always welcome!
