came across this today while out driving, was no sooner out the car that it started to rain, which turned out for the best as it probably looks better like this rather than bathed in sunshine. (Located in Warners Road, just off Geelong Ballan Road.) / /
Luna Park’s scenic railway in Melbourne, this was taken for a project in 2002 / 2003 when I was doing a Camera and Image 8 week short course at Melbourne School of Art and Photography. Taken using my first manual film SLR camera, a Canon EOS 300, with transparency film, then scanned digitally and adjusted to suit.

The joys of the ‘Great Little Trains of Wales’ to quote an old tourist slogan. This painting brings back happy memories of a day spent on the Tallylyn Railway, and captures one of their trains approaching Dolgoch Falls.
This is an abandoned railway tunnel North-West of Brisbane.
I know, I know, I can just hear all of you now, this is a bit ‘dark’ coming from me, but I’m just stretching out of my boundaries a little…it’s all you lot’s fault you know, you dare me to be different and creative…. ;-)
Two trains race each other to Richmond Station on a chilly Winter’s evening in Melbourne, Australia. HDR done in Photomatix, the 3 trains were all added from seperate photos of the same spot in Photoshop which is pretty new to me. Was then converted to a Sepia Tone in Adobe Lightroom. The follow yp to my original Empty shot. This was an old disused carriage in Halifax used for education purposes, as you can see there are some school children at the back of the carriage. /
Another shot from the Steam Train Museum at Thirlmere in the Southern Highlands of NSW (Australia) ... I could not escape the ‘feel’ of the 1920’s, so I added an ethereal Flapper, some film grain, and effects to hopefully suggest a byegone era. Still feeling my way with these special effects so all constructive suggestions gratefully received!! Flapper Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM / / / / / /

We worked every day, Sunday included, until at least ten o’clock at night. I remember it was an event when we quit work on Christmas night at eight o’clock to attend a family reunion. ~ Walter Davidson, one of the founders of Harley-Davidson. Tim let me hop off the back and shoot this one evening. I couldn’t resist the combination of light and shadows, and the railroad track disappearing over the horizon.*

Something a little different, a collage of images I’ve taken while at work when I’m doing night shifts (as a railway worker). Some tasks can afford some most unusual photographic opportunities. I generally like working at night, even in the depths of winter. All taken with Ricoh GX-100
Everytime we travelled past a row of trees or through a tunnel, I caught the reflection of the couple sat in front of me. / I composed the shot and waited for the next opportunity, only to get a passing train instead. Not a word was said between them throughout the whole two hour journey. EXIF DATA: Canon EOS 40D / 22mm, F/4.5, 1/500 sec, ISO-400 / Tripod: NO, Flash: NO
