I find Knaresborough station unusual position wise, leaving the station in one direction the track goes straight into a tunnel/bridge. In the other direction it has to cross a large multi arched bridge crossing a gorge/valley. The station itself seems a bit timeless, it can’t have changed much for years. / HDR used for effect. This is the main Railway line from Penzance to London, the Midlands, North of England, Scotland, and South Wales. Taken on the stretch between Starcross and Dawlish Warren, Devon, England. This is a proper pedestrian crossing point on the track. Converted into B&W in CS3. Hope you like it. / Thank you for looking. Pentax K110D. / Pentax 18-55 lens Warning. Jasper is 290 kilometres (180 mi) north of Banff, Alberta, with the Icefields Parkway connecting the Jasper townsite to Lake Louise in Banff National Park. It was established as a specialized municipality on July 20, 2001 and the governance of Jasper is shared between the Municipality of Jasper and Parks Canada Agency. Jasper House was first a Northwest Company, and later Hudson’s Bay Company, fur trade outpost on the York Factory Express trade route to Fort Vancouver on the lower Columbia River. Jasper National Park was established in 1907, with the Canadian Northern Railway beginning service to Jasper in 1912. The Jasper townsite was surveyed in 1913 by H. Matheson. What is it about trains? Something about them is so romantic, you see scenes you normally wouldnt see riding in a car. Maybe it’s the sound of the locomotive, the rocking of the car you’re in, the overall atmosphere. / This was shot in West Viriginia, I insisted on doing at least one train ride, especially when this particular one was just 2minutes from where my friend lives. Quite a challenge hanging over in the open car we were in trying to get just that right angle with the right light. The colors were spectacular while I was in WV. Shot this in SS mode with SS set at 1/500 (had to compensate for moving and me hand holding) / F-stop at F 5.6, / ISO at 400, / focal length at 70mm, / and exposure compensation at 0

Some old train carriages I found while I was out exploring.

Done in ultra contrast HDR. The camera was set on the rail, and not much attention was paid to the alignment of the trees and the rail until I put it on my computer and viewed it full size. The trees line up perfectly and reflect quite nicely on the smooth shiny steel of the rail. ...And the CP (Canadian Pacific) takes it by a nose with the CN (Canadian National) chugging alongside. I live in a little mountain town where the trains stop for a few minutes and crews do a changeover then stay in the bunkhouses on either side of the river for a few hours to rest up for their next trips. / These freight trains are heading west towards Vancouver. /
