I finally took the plunge and created my first Calendar on Redbubble. I hope you like it. I used the photos of my two sweet Ragalong Ragdoll Cats. I have also put information from the breeder where we obtained our wonderful cats, in case any of you out there are interested in getting a cat from Ragalong Cattery, in Sooke, British Columbia. They have outstanding award-winning cats! I welcome all constructive comments that can help me with any future calendars I may try to create. Don’t be shy. Tell me what you think I can do to improve on my effort. Cheers, Carol & her cats!

My Deepest Appreciation to all of the moderators who have featured my works. Seventeen features in two weeks time, some works featured in more than one group. I am so delighted for your kind words and that you find a particular value in my works and felt they were worthy of being in the spot light. Dearest friends; It was a little over one year ago when I entered my very first image here on Red Bubble. And what a year it has been. So many new and wonderful friends and nothing but the best of the best to view as I am totally addicted to coming here every single morning. What new and delicious viewings will I get to start my day with? You guys are better than my morning coffee. / What I want to share with you, my dear friends are the photos of mine that you have liked the best. Simply by the sheer numbers of views and favoritings. They have not been glamorous or exotic places, but simple views. The most popular by far was the one taken in the Lavender fields of Sequim, just a two hour drive from my home, the second was the beautiful cottage in Carmel-by-the-sea in California. Third was a beautiful Spring Garden in the Skagit Valley at Tulip time and the fourth was one of my most personal favorite images taken just a few minutes from my home, titled; My Secret Garden. Then that little old fashioned picket fence that captured the interest of so many… was it the simplicity? They were views that spoke to my heart and I am glad they spoke to you as well. Next came four images of my darling cats when they were kittens… they still continue to be favorites to this day. / I just wanted to thank you for this wonderful year of growth and encouragement. I have been rich in ways that cannot be taken to the bank, but in ways that count in my heart and that makes me richer by far. I have made some wonderful friends and found kindred spirits. I thank you so very much! :~)) Warm wishes to all, / Marjorie Come and sit among the Lavender / Dream Cottage in Carmel / Beautiful Spring Garden / My Secret Garden / Old Fashioned Picket Fence / Santa’s Helper / Bella and Murphy / Baby Savannah / She will win your heart /

  • Raunchy Ragdolls Reel Sexual Predators
    by sophieadelle

Sexual predators are growing in numbers with the same pace as ‘Bratz’ doll sales, but is there a correlation between Western society’s over sexualisation of children, and the sex related issues flashing on our television screens? Moreover have we become enablers in sex crime? Lock up your daughters. Sophie Lane reports. Upon entering the pretty pink isle of an innocent children’s toy distributer, my eyes are met with those of plastic short-skirt-blonde-hair-big-busted dolls, I feel much the same as a man entering a brothel. The choices are endless, and as I hear the cries of “I want I want” a mere hundred metres away, I realise that the promotion of sex in society could never be more at reach to the hands of a five year old child. It would be wrong to blame ‘sexed-up sweet sixteen year old Sallys’ primarily on the iconic Barbie doll. Unfortunately, the toy section of your nearest department store is not the only sexually skewed platform in our fast paced culture. Maturation is running overdrive as Suri Cruise paces the streets of New York in platform heels. I find it hard to believe that it was five year old Suri’s idea to wear the infamous stiletto shoe, originally designed to accentuate the female figure’s breasts and buttox. With her noticeably small stature, chap stick lips and click clock heels, young Suri resembles that of her Ken’s spouse. Aside from looking doll-like, this mere toddler is an imitation of an adult, sexed up and ready for her next scientology meeting with parents Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise. Proud? In medieval and Renaissance Europe, it was common for children to be treated as little adults. There was no theory of childhood, and thus children were dressed, spoken to and treated with the expectations of adults. Apprenticeships began at an average of age ten, and girls were married at 15, consequently there was no ‘teen’ period. It is safe to say, that we as a society have progressed from such beliefs with the help of Psychologists such as Piaget. Currently, we supposedly treat children with care and nurture, knowing that their development is vital in attaining a successful life in adulthood. With the bombardments of sexualised advertisements in the media, and a boy becoming a father at 13 in the UK, it is debatable as to whether we are helping or harming the future leaders of our nation. As I watched my 14 year old brother walk a school girl to the bus stop, in my overheated P-plate car I smile at his innocence. I ask him who she was “Oh that’s just Chloe, she is easy, been there done that”. Sit back and take a 360 degree turn around, I cringe at his young corrupt mind. Now it becomes a realisation that it is not only celebrities and fame hungry foreigners who have become susceptible to the undoing of youth’s purity, it comes as close as the local High school. Are we creating our own demons? On a daily basis news reporters spit words of ‘rape’, ‘consent’, and ‘underage’ frivolously. In encouraging children to embrace a brush of blush, and download songs with lyrics haunting “damn yous a sexy bitch”, it is debatable as to whether we are encouraging the creepy paedophile behind the computer screen. The ones looking at children’s facebook profiles with ease and pleasure across the nation. With the click of a mouse a fifty year old male has access to your 15 year old’s photo album. It is true that we have become desensitised to the warnings against the danger of internet social networks, but when Facebook groups supporting rape and pledging against informed consent crop up (as shown in recent news headlines), the toxic mix of warning bells and school bells are hard to ignore. As Australians we ask ourselves why we have such a nation spread child porn industry. What is the appeal of children when there are enough raunchy 1800 hotlines to last a sexually skewed predator’s lifetime? But much like dressing mutton as lamb, we are dressing children as sexualised objects. Watch as underage clubs encourage dancing in cages, and Miley Cyrus strips off, posing naked for the camera. Leave children in the toy department and make your way to the erotic magazine isle. Childhood and sexualisation are separate entities, on separate levels. Once a kid has realised the hilarity of Barbie’s peroxide blonde hair and unachievable curves as a ridiculous aim, then perhaps they can take the escalator of maturation. Sophie Lane
