OIl on board from my series of rooty vegetable paintings.
Kathy grows many foods in our garden.. I came back from a photo fun trip with Mike and she was waiting for me to see her work she had done around the house with the camera.. I looked at this captures and asked where did you get this beautiful flower group.. She laughed and said it was a flower set getting ready to seed from a volunteer radish plant .. Well there ya go… So pretty..
From a series of oils and watercolors, this particular version played with green hoping it would stand out in foreground.

Acrylic on board from a series based on a photo I took at the farmers market.
Early this summer, I stopped by at the “City Farm” on Division Street in Chicago which is in an empty lot where one of the high-rise apartment buildings in the Cabrini-Green Housing Project once stood. One of the guys working there picked some radishes, and I asked him if I could take a picture of them in his hands because I liked the contrast of the red, white and green, as well as the detail of his “farmer’s hands”: tan, real dirt under his nails, and strong but gentle.
This is from a street market in Normandy. It is very traditional and classic of the French life to go every week, to get the best of the fresh!
