This man,who grew up during a time of segregation,racism,civil rights,who dreamed the dream of Dr.King,and almost saw that dream die,who never gave up hope,who always loved his fellow man,no matter the color of their skin,who treats me like a son,and has made me a better person by knowing him,takes a break from work to watch our new President take the oath of office.I am grateful for the opportunity to share this moment with my friend. /

Miracles of miracles 2000 to 2008 it never happened…poof…President King George W. Debacle Bush and his gang of water boarding torturers it was just a nightmare it never happened. The Iraqi War it never happened…Katrina it never happened…Republicans spending more money than any previous administrations and creating a huge government it never happened…The Wall Street Bailout it never happened…ask any Republican 2000 to 2008 it never happened. The Republican Party shrinking down to a sorry befuddle leaderless aimless none relevant Party of No is what they have become and that is a tragedy of denial. Until they repudiate the Rush Limbaugh’s and his ilk and deny the likes of Sarah Palin they will continue to become irrelevant…continuing to becoming Rushpublicans with Limbaughtomies and thrashing around like Republicansoreasses and that is the Party of Stooopid. Who knows just maybe they will come to their senses so far they are acting like monkey clowns grooming the scabs off their Republicansoreasses. Will they ever come to their senses and be Americans again? And does the world know that 2000 to 2008 never happened?

music This is a collage of individual photos my friends and I took for another mate’s birthday present. This was originally 4 photos which were a creative gift of friendship. I wanted to take it one step further. Individually, the 3 friends in this photo and myself are very different. 2 male, 2 female, 2 coloured, 2 white, 2 full blooded, 2 half blooded, 2 older, 2 younger, 2 single, 2 in relationships. Perfectly divided in half, matching on some levels, opposing on others. Remind me again, how are we so different? Imagine a world where we are not governed by what society think of us, where media is not god, where prejudice is laughable, where division is not the main focus of our time and a place where people can live, not exist. Idealistic? Maybe.. but nice to consider. Helen is not necessarily the most popular massager of self indulgent egos and you may or may not agree with her methods, but there is no doubt that she is a caring and gutsy human being. She has never shied away from expressing her abhorrence of all forms of oppression and prejudice; racism sexism homophobia extreme religious zealotry Nazism etc. / / Various extreme right wing morons have waged a battle against her for years, these are the people who believe a Black man is not fit to lead a country and who would stoop to any depths to see Helen and other liberal minded people silenced. They use lies and deceit to further their self serving causes. I have personally been goaded by them too. It sickens me that they have won :-( / / This is a very sad day for people here who care about the things that are really important and that make a very real difference to the quality of humanity, surely among adults a few swear words aimed at an antagonist do not constitute a hanging offence? This is a Dedication and a Tribute for a young Sudanese man, who was viciously set-upon and killed by a group of 8-10 youths/men on the 26 Oct 2009. The young man (23 yo) died from a fatal stab-wound to the neck. He bled to death. He leaves behind a daughter of 3 years of age, and his young partner, the mother of his little girl. At least 2 of the gang have been arrested since the incident and have been charged with murder. He came to this country (Australia) at the age of 19 with the view of achieving a “better” life, to get a job, and to start sending money back to his family still living in Sudan. Over the past few weeks I came to know him, his story, his fears, his experiences, his struggles, the racism he’d experienced, the depression and the alcoholism that he’d succumbed to since living here in the land of his disappointment. Not too long ago he said he was happier, though very poor and often hungry, “back home”. We laughed occasionally and talked deeply, and he was starting to feel encouraged for the first time since being here. He’d told me how he wanted to be a “better” father, and not get angry with his partner, to get off the drinking cycle and to learn not to react to, nor escalate the racial taunting he experienced too often. Our country and our Governments proffer much to such immigrants. I believe “we” as a Nation have failed our end of the arrangement. His family chose him to come here, as he had the best prospects to learn and “succeed” on behalf of those he would leave behind. His mother’s hopes and dreams now end with his death. His partner is alone and confused, still coming to terms with what had happened. A little girl sleeps restless, never to know her father, and the beautiful spirit that lay within,beneath the shame and disappointment he’d felt with regard to his life in Australia. And the price for Freedom for this young man? His death. He no longer suffers, ‘tis a fact — and a few such as I, are left to wonder, “Why?” I have the fortune and the privilege to have met and gotten to know this young man — this warrior lost — and he has given me more than he will ever know. He journeys beyond these shores, westward towards the setting sun, across the ocean, returns in spirit to his Sudan, his Africa, his homeward calling.
