In honor of Oscars night, a favorite actor / Portrait of Steve McQueen / Water color and ink on paper / From an old photo in a local magazine. McQueen used to do a lot of racing at the nearby Laguna Seca racetrack. Someone got a shot of him just pulling off the goggles, mud and grease on his face, in his leathers, and wearing that / You Want a Piece of This? / look / he did so well and made him so interesting to watch as an actor. One of the extremely quick Yellow-belly Racer snakes. I was shocked to be walking this trail the 2nd time, looking down, to see him resting there in the sunlight not even caring that I was there. Normally these fellows VERY quickly slither off before they’re barely even seen more or less photographed. / I was able to get almost 20 shots off, each closer then the last before I decided to let him rest in peace. / He was found in the foothills of the Missouri River in a little traveled area. Mostly a deer path that I like to hike every now and then.

A squirrel trots along the famed Pre’s Trail in Alton Baker area of Eugene, Oregon. The bark-paved trail was designed by the late Steve Prefontaine and is a busy training path for Oregon runners.
