  • Sales of this Design? – 2 sales so far :) / Spotting Rainbows is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper / ink, pastel, charcoal, acrylic ‘We may run, walk, stumble, drive or fly, but never let us ever lose sight of the reason for the journey, or miss the chance to see a rainbow on the way.’ – Gloria Gaither /

  • Sales of this Design? – 1 sale so far :) / Flying Machine / by Karin Taylor / from the ‘Inspired Series’ / / Mixed Media / ink, chalk pastel, charcoal, acyrlic, mediums / silver, gold, bronze and rose metallic acrylics / adobe photoshop My most recent work, this piece was influenced by the ‘gliders’ in my family who have taken to the sky recently. My husband, my son and their friend Erich are all involved in a local gliding club…and always suggesting I paint an aeroplane lol I thought, there’s no way i can do that! / But i found a way, after lots of thinking on the subject to incorporate a sort of flying contraption i designed myself into this piece. My girl is onward bound and it’s semi-self portrait i guess you could say…altho most people don’t see the resemblance to me….she is a lot younger, perhaps how i would like to be thought of lol Also inspired by my lovely and ever patient friend Christine / a fabulous friend and textile artist, her threads and yarn and tactile things have affected me on an immense scale, so that all my work these days is imbued with these elements….although there is no actual wool or thread in the painting, i have used these as inspiration for her scarf and hair detail. The khaki overalls are what i wear when i’m painting, with a white singlet in summer, or a jumper in winter…...i am yet to find a hairdresser who could accomplish this hairstyle for me.. the little parrot represents conscience, a little voice that knows right from wrong….this is an idea loosely taken from a movie i saw a while ago ‘The Golden Compass’ I dedicate this painting to Christine, as she has listened to all my crazy ideas, and very carefully encourages me or points out things that may help, and i don’t know where i’d be without her…..thanx Chris :) Patchwork and patterns, repitition, daisies, journeys, serene expressions, genuity…..

  • I am a cat lover and this is my own version of a “quilt”, consisting 300 cats, each with their own expressions and styles. At the very beginning, my idea was to create a tessellating pattern of the head of a cat (similar to what M.C. Escher did in some of his works). I then thought, instead of making the cats look all the same and monotonous, why not making them fun to look at?

  • Best Viewed Large. Time. An odd concept. Relative, as some say … / Boxes. Too many. / Attempted to fit in one, two, three, more … / endless. / Fill them with color, I thought. / I did. / As vibrant and beautiful as I could find. / Still, boxes. / I didn’t fit in any. / Does anyone? / Piece the colors together, make your own quilt. / Wrap yourself up in it: solace, comfort, compassion, love, warmth. / Of your own making; amidst the boxes, against the boxes: / Vibrant and beautiful. / A tapestry of your own … as beautiful as stained glass, yet doesn’t break. / Threadbare in places, like the Velveteen Rabbit. / “At Last!” / Finally. / 38 years ago I left the womb, and have now my own quilt, of my own making. / It’s my tapestry, far from perfect – I wouldn’t want it any other way. / The colors and textures are rich, vibrant. / Perfection is tiresome … I still don’t like boxes. / And time remains a relatively odd concept. / I’m flawed, just like my quilt, and even this photo … yet I’m real (somewhat out of focus, threadbare in places, and relatively odd in my native struggling human self). / Isn’t that where the truest beauty resides? / My wish is that we could all see that in ourselves, as well as each other. / Much love, many blessings, in peace, light and wonderment, Emily Canon DSLR/xti

  • Rebirth of Venus / Venus, also known as Aphrodite, has been painted by many masters as the mythical goddess of beauty and love. Instead, I present to you a normal, modern woman, whose life events, mindset, and heart culminate in her rebirth as “Venus”. Today it could be me. Tomorrow it could be you, or someone you know. -F.A. • Girl on Yellow Quilt / My great grand father on my mother’s side, I only knew in pictures and, later, stories. He was a small man with a mustache. He came over on the same ship from Bohemia as did his future wife, the mother of my mother’s mother; and they both settled in Saint Louis, Missouri, where they later met through friends… for the first time. A tailor to the CEO’s in Saint Louis, He did pretty well, I guess; because they owned a lot of Real Estate. The daughters were dressed like models. Only later, when I was studying fashion design was I told about his work. Strange I didn’t know before. The stories I heard were always about the scientists, doctors, inventors, and entrepreneurs in my Dad’s pioneering family. Not the two little Bohemians, whose eyes and nose I have. He made a quilt, hand-sewn of course, a yellow quilt, that I have always cherished. It’s the softest cotton. I can’t imagine that any of these fabrics were from men’s suits. When I use it, the quilt seems to bring good dreams and deep sleep and some feeling I have not yet discerned. Whatever its magic, sleeping on the yellow quilt, or under it, is my kind of “fine”. -F.A. Moore Digital work by F.A. Background is the artist’s own life-collage. When I was working with my “Rebirth” series, something I changed turned the “quilt” to this gorgeous golden hue. I just had to share with you, not only the image, but some of the memories and feelings I experience upon seeing it. Thank you for reading. • Taking a break from PvZ for awhile. Just to see if people like my actual art rather than other peoples’ characters and such. Enjoy it while it lasts. I’m not good enough to keep this original thinking going for long.

  • I created this , as project that went complete veered left of what I intended I dint even start out to do an abstract but when I got this far into my thoughts, I realized I made a quilt for my neice Jenny.. you see these things are in her room, except for the painting there , which is a public domain painting. Jenny is an adult, and she has what is called severe handicaps. She doesnt walk or talk, so she sits allot .. her mom has made many beautiful things in her bedroom, as well as her sisters and her dad in her living room, sits a rocking chair.. where there is a pillow.. which was made by her niece. / on it: O Lord, How majestic is thy name in all the earth .. from the Psalms. the butterfly made of glass is made by her sister.. and this letter for Jenny is made by her other sister. the dress is from my niece Elizabeth, and again. that rocking chair has been here since I can remember back some 36 years. I can keep naming the things that has surrounded her all of her life.. but most of all , she is truly loved and she is Jenny , and there is no one like her.
