Interesting behaviour resulted when they caught site of my lens, perhaps because of the reflection of themselves, or perhaps a reflection of the sun, or perhaps they perceived that it was a giant eye.

  • sunset-coloured rose, after rain
    by dimsim

    US$5.42–US$144.40

A yellow-and-pink rose, water droplets glistening in the sun after a tropical downpour. This is one of my favorites, I love the composition, the way the bend of the rose stem mirrors the climbing-lattice in the background seems like a virtual caress. This was taken in tropical Far North Queensland, Australia.

  • This is a rare sight! Inland of Central Queensland GREEN after a month of heavy rain, and with a thunderstorm looming on the horizon. This area is known colloquially as ‘the dustbowl’. Hard to believe from this picture, which has a palette and swirls that give an impression that it may be an oil painting —reminds me of classic Heidelberg School works from the 1800s, when European-influenced painters like Arthur Streeton were just starting to get to grips with the fact that Australia doesn’t look much like Europe.
