Shot this back in November, 2004, when the grass was much greener, and there was water in the dam. There’s only been water in that dam one other time since then, and it lasted around 6 weeks….this is a nice reminder of what we used to have…. Sold this a number of times pre-redbubble, mostly A3 size, and it won me a $1500 prize from the Brisbane City Council, as well the John Herbert medal at APSCON 2005, and also a number of other smaller prizes. This was sold december 2008 on redbubble as a matted print. This has all the things wrong with it…lens flare being the major problem, but it illustrates why I ended up so so wet….they sneak up when you’re looking through the viewfinder. scream up the beach at a hundred miles an hour and slap you across the back….. You can also see the way the sky changed….Dicky dawn was shot before the sun came up, and those dark clouds were behind us….they moved over quite quickly as the sun rose. I was lucky enough to spend nearly an hour swimming alongside this juvenille green turtle (Chelonia mydas) on the fringing reef at Lady Elliott Island in the Southern part of the Great Barrier Reef. Lady Elliott is a beautiful island that is home to a wide variety of marine life and seabirds. Best of all the resort is reasonably priced fairly basic accommodation unlike most of the rest of the island resorts in the GBR. If you get the chance then Lady Elliott is well worth the trip. During my week long visit I would have seen more than >10 green turtles, hatchlings on the beach, sharks, rays, gourpers and a myriad of other reef fish. The coral reef on the other side of the island is spactacular with huge plate (Acropora sp.) corals everywhere. It is truly magic.

What can i say, I’ve skipped over several hundred images to be able to work on this one, I just love the feel of the water, the colour in the sky, I never expected to get a sunset image at Burleigh, this is lovely. couldn’t get close enough to the young lady to ask her to stand still so she is a little soft, never the less its a nice image. you have my card so contact me on kjwrightphoto@gmail.com and I will add you name to the image Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm nikkor lens.

Black glass magic – I had gone on this shoot with a bad attitude, expecting the sky to be bland and the day to be a waste of time, and therefore I set the camera on large jpg so I wouldn’t waste too much computer space….As it turned out, I’ve managed to drag out some amazing results. This is another straight from the camera image, although I had to take it into PS to straighten the horizon…. Canon 5D Mk II, 16-35mm at 16mm, f/10, 90seconds, ISO 50, Hoya NDX400, Singh Ray 3 stop reverse grad, Lee 0.9 ND grad, tripod, cable release, lots of guessing….I should point out the red sky is enhanced by the Singh Ray filter, which seems to put a colour cast across the ND area when used in conjunction with the Lee filter…. - / SEASCAPES / NEW ZEALAND / PEOPLE

Noosa Main Beach, this is what Noosa is all about :) 3 Frame sunset HDR, one of the frames had this pelican flying overhead, all three had the still surfer. Pelican pasted back over the ghosted figure the HDR created. Noosa Main Beach, Noosa Heads, Queensland. Canon 50D, 10mm, 16:9 crop.

What a magical place this is Natural Bridge (also known as Natural Arch), in the World Heritage-listed, Springbrook National Park, Queensland, Australia. Over millions of years, the waters of the mountain fed Cave Creek has worn away at the basalt cave roof, to create this natural wonder. Home to a colony of glow-worms, only visible after sunset. The short hiking walk takes you through some beautiful rainforest, most of the time, you can hear the falling waters of these falls. A must see if you come to the area! Canon 50D, 14mm. I shot this one after my return from Tasmania, and while I was shooting it, it reminded me of the sunset on the Tasman Peninsula. So I’ll post them both on the same day.. It’s Tasmania v Noosa… :) I know it’s not really an even playing field with the pelican there, but I did wait 10-15 mins in the Tassy area, and not one bird flew by. Lake Doonella, Noosaville, Noosa Heads, Queensland, Australia. Canon 50D, 10mm. Available large and best viewed Large!!
