Tried a ND filter in kinda dark light, with full open shutter.. Didn’t think I would get anything.. Happy with the result :) Some edding in the water from the rocks below effecting the currents. Overlooking Noosa River, Noosaville. Canon 1000D.
First storm to hit the area in over 6 months, I was so excited!! Straight to my chosen spot and took hundreds of shots, just waiting for that moment. The sky was so extreme, there was no wind, no rain, just the crazy clouds, and lightning! The rain of course was close, but I managed to get this before it started to pour :) Noosa River, Noosaville, Queensland. the boat is the same subject in River Living and I was very thankful it was still for this to work. Canon 50D, 10mm, 16:9 crop. Available large, and best viewed large! :)

Yes I know, another sunset shot of the Noosa River, Noosaville, Queensland, Australia. I just can’t help myself, I love this time of day and place, and I have to say, this afternoons sunset was the best yet. I honestly had to desaturate this shot. It was amazing orange, everything around you was glowing orange, the sky lit up!! My wife even said at the time, she had never seen anything like it. Canon 50D, 10mm, 20% desaturate, as the raw was just too orange… Available Large, and best viewed Large.. The full size print of this can be 1.5 metres x 1 metre.
This has to be one of my favorite shots I have taken to date, as I was shooting Fiery Skies I noticed a pelican in the distance incomming, I raced back to this palm I had in the shots earlier, as I knew the fisherman to the left of frame would get the pelicans attention… Paid off, one of the frames used in this shot was a cool timing pelican landing :) I carefully pasted out the other captures of this pelican in the other frames, so the one was clear in the HDR. I was almost going to paste in the whole landing sequence, as I pumped up the ISO to get the camera shooting at max fps. I hope you enjoy this shot, was real fun making it, and shooting it! At Hunters Gorge on the Diamantina River in outback Queensland. The bird life here was amazing. The setting sun hit the gorge wall lighting it up glowingly and it then reflected in the still waters,I wached as slowly this pelecan drifted into the reflected glow of the golden sun.

This sunset photo was taken on the 8th July. I could not believe the colours this day, absolutely breathtaking, needless to say I kept snapping away until the colours disappeared! We have some really awesome sunsets this winter with all the rain that we have had and lots of clouds about. This was taken looking over the Coomera River in the Gold Coast Hinterland. “At 10pm one night at Kangaroo Point, I decided to go for a wander and find some nice vantage points from which to capture panoramas of the city. As I walked along the base of the cliffs and toward the Story Bridge I could hear the roar of the crowds of people living it up in nightclubs across the river. It was a beautiful night and I’m glad I was able to capture this image to share it.” This digitally stitched panorama is based on a series of 40 second exposures. To give an example of the full size of this image, here is a 100% crop of the top of the leftmost building – the Riparian Plaza. Enjoy!
Taken from the bottom of the cliffs along Kangaroo Point, looking towards the city of Brisbane at night. Timed to exclude the ferries leaving light trails along the river.
had another go (from scratch), have straight buildings in colour… /

From the floating walkway on the Brisbane River, looking towards Story Bridge. One of my first digital shots, out practicing with my new toy.
Mount Bartle Frere, the highest peak in Queensland, reflected in the beautiful Johnstone River with Sony A200. Had to lie flat on my back to include the fence in the foreground!
Found these 2 lost flip-flops or thongs on the Northern Tip of Noosa Main Beach. You can see the entrance rock wall to the Noosa River to the left. Just proves, love can be found anywhere :) Canon 50D, 10mm, 16:9 crop. Available Large!
If you can brave the winter sunrise, and I don’t often enough, they are definately the most colourful. (Who am I kidding, I was in a T-shirt and shorts for this, it wasn’t even cold!!). This one over the Noosa River, Noosaville. Yes that is my favorite boat model, and this little duck sat there nice and still for me. I think they call them wood ducks, and he was like wood, hardly moved.. Wasn’t lucky enough to catch any of the bird life this morning, and I just missed a shot with a Whistling Kite eagle flying overhead.. Bugger!! Canon 50D, 22mm.. 6:20am, Noosaville, Queensland, Australia. Available Large!

Please check out Michael Mitchell’s website www.thegreatcancerwalk.com.au Laughing Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) The largest Australian kingfisher, the kookaburra has a massive bill, a brown stripe through the eyes and over the crown, off-white head and underparts. It is mottled light blue on the wings and has brown bars on the tail. Family members live in the same territory year-round and reinforce the boundaries at the beginning of the breeding season, calling together and awaiting the response of neighbours. Young stay with their parents for up to 4 years helping to the offspring. They hunt from a perch, staring at the ground and fluttering down to catch prey. They breed from September to January and lay 1-4 eggs in a nest in a tree hollow or termite mound. The female and family helpers incubate the eggs and care for the young who fledge in about 5 weeks. Their call is raucous laughing and their diet consists of reptiles, rodents, birds, insects and other invertebrates. They inhabit Sclerophyll forests, woodlands and parks.
