The writing is on the wall – if you can see it, you can’t read it. I passed this sculpture so many times. You have to. It is made of stainless steel and placed in one of the busiest Wellington streets, in the perfect position to capture the colorful lights of the city after daylight, the nightglow of the capital. The ‘Invisible City’, as it’s called, is the gigantic panel of Braille text that highlights the communication gap between those who can’t see and the rest of us. The post is designed to remember all the folks, my countrymen and yours, the often invisible part of society, all those who finish schools, who work, play music, do sports, pay taxes, have and raise children, to the benefit of us all.

Camera Details: / Nikon D70s , Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 DC Location: / Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, The Netherlands Map: / Road Map , Terrain , Satellite Copyright: / © Brendan Schoon , All rights reserved. Background Information: / The Erasmusbrug (“Erasmus Bridge”) is a cable stayed bridge across the Nieuwe Maas river, linking the northern and southern halves of the city of Rotterdam, Netherlands. / The Erasmusbrug was designed by Ben van Berkel and completed in 1996. The 808 metre long bridge has a 139 metre-high asymmetrical pylon, earning the bridge its nickname of “The Swan”. The southern span of the bridge has a 89 metre long bascule bridge for ships that cannot pass under the bridge. The bascule bridge is the largest and heaviest in West Europe and has the largest panel of its type in the world. The bridge was officially opened by Queen Beatrix on September 6, 1996, having cost 165 million Dutch guilders (about 75 million euros) to construct. Shortly after the bridge opened to traffic in October 1996, it was discovered the bridge would swing under particularly strong wind conditions. To reduce the trembling, stronger shock dampers were installed. The bridge was featured in the 1998 Jackie Chan film Who Am I? In 2005 several planes flew underneath the bridge as part of the “Red Bull Air Race”. In 2005, the bridge served as the backdrop for a performance by Dj Tiësto titled “Tiësto @ The Bridge, Rotterdam”. The performance featured fire fighting ships spraying jets of water into the air in front of the bridge, a fireworks barge launching fireworks beside the bridge, and multi colored spot/search lights attached to the bridge itself. I adore Sydney at night. This was me tripod-less one night at Circular Quay… I’m still tripod-less to this day. Long exposures kill me. Hehehe.
Artwork of Salfords most viewd piece of architecture. This is one of my highest quality pieces of work. Print quality is assured and it is also one of my best pieces to date.
Painted from a very old photo (1857) of a collier brig. Taken from my wonderful book of North East sailing ships on the coast. / And the ship, background and quay, are painted from the fenland port of Wisbech, on the Lincolnshire coast. The rest of the painting is from my imagination. Watercolour on two rivers, hand-made 140lb paper. / 14” x 21”
Colourful houses stacked onto the hillside around Brixham harbour in Torbay, South Devon, with the setting sun perfectly complimenting the illuminated shopfronts on the harbourside. A single trawler is moored beside the quay safely home from a day of fishing. The fishermen had their catch of the day, as did I. View the rest of our portfolio here Or visit our own website here

A good thing to do whenever you contemplate daydreaming, is to make sure you have a camera on you.
