For everyone who likes my “Quarter Horse Broodmare” shot, here is the resulting wee bundle of joy – a quarter horse colt named Nevada Pale Moon. When he was born, the owners & I all thought he was a cremello (a double cream gene resulting in a cream rather than golden coat colour), and this opinion was further enhanced by those wonderful blue eyes (another genetic factor for cremellos). However, as he grew older & lost his baby fuzz, the underlying coat was revealed to be golden after all. Some research on horse colour genetics followed & it was discovered Pale Moon is one of a very small percentage of blue-eyed palominos! I fell in love with him when he was just a few hours old, it was tempting to add horse number eight to the herd (right up until I thought about the winter feed costs!) One of the very few places in the old City of Senglea, Malta, which survived the countless day and night air-raids of WWII. These old steps, made of hard-wearing lower coralline limestone, lead from the once very busy Senglea sea-front to the centre of the City. Only time can tell how many people of different nationalities have made use of them since their construction during the time of the French Grand Master Fra Claude de la Sengle (who ruled between 1553 and 1557) some 450 years ago. Colour Representation: sRGB / Focal length: 84mm / F Number: F/9 / Exposure Time: 1/250 secs / Metering Mode: Spot / 6 copies of a single hand-held shot taken with an Olympus E330 DSLR, processed at 1/3 EV stops and merged together with the original in Photomatix Pro3
