  • Somewhere in the blue spaces of my mind … there is this place, Iceworld … a place of stillness. / . / As a 3D model Planet Ice has been a work-in-progress for about two years. Since I tend to work large, rendering alone can take the better part of several days depending on the quantity of reflective and refractive elements. / . / 8000×4800 pixels / I lost track of the hours spent on this a long time ago.

  • An original painting, the first from a series of paintings in acrylics/mixed media which has photographic qualities (but it is a painting none the less). Inspired by a surreal May evening at Hove beach where the sea and sky blended into one – there was no horizon, and the sea turned to mercury.

  • I shot this sunset on June 29, 2008, right here in my front yard, in Anderson, California. This was an extremely smokey day and that only added to the beauty. The overall time in the sequence was barely more than one minute, beginning at 7:18:06 for the first image and ending at 7:19:38 for the fifth image. I have done absolutely no editing except for the extraction from the base images to add them all here in one presentation. This is also available without the colored framing….........thank you for viewing. / ____ / All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. • I shot this sequence of images on July 22, 2008 here in Anderson, CA. The Aftermath is meant to be a bit dramatic….though the sun appears rather beautiful in this state, it still reflects the many lives which have been forever changed due to the wildfires burning here in Northern California…....and in the days before (the containment) after (the fires), lives were forever changed…......... / I appreciate all of you who have been commenting on this “smokey” series and appreciate all of your views and favorites… / / / ___ / All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. • Redbubble Art trend...why so many poor snaps

When I joined a couple of years ago the standard of photographic images and art being uploaded was a of very high standard and it was a pleasure to view regularly the daily uploads Currently I find that what is being uploaded is very poor a lot of the time. / Photographic “snaps”…. do photographic snaps qualify as art ?...maybe, but I don’t see too many “snap” type images hanging on walls. I think the “play nice” rule is now allowing a level of work that is often poor and mediocre. / If in addition to “play nice” was the opportunity to critique images I’m sure redbubble would have a very different standard of art being uploaded. Just one example. / Today there was uploaded a picture of car someone just purchased and was very proud of… / So we play nice and don’t say… this is not art, photographically it is correctly exposed, a reasonable record image of your purchase, framing is not good as front bumper touches the edge of the image, back ground signage is messy, etc. / Result we get more and more material that is not art and people are learning bugger all. Fine art nudes have often become… lets record some bedroom fun with on flash camera, …poorly exposed, blown highlights… and lets show them what you have had for breakfast babe. / I’m sure allowed critique by Redbubble members would pretty soon see a lot of this crap drop off. To me the quality of images has spiraled down enormously, I like Redbubble, but unfortunately I see that many excellent artists seemed to have dropped away. / I am getting a lot less satisfaction from my time on the site, maybe Redbubble are selling heaps of these “snaps” and are happy for this to be the trend. I note that some images featured by Redbubble can often be out of focus, have blown highlights, lack contrast, and be incorrectly exposured, so maybe they are happy with this trend. / / What do you all think.
