A powerful daytime lightning strike pounds the pine plantation only 500m away…this transperancy looks spectacular when projected. see more of my meteorology photography at / thunderstorms
Each season farmers in Nth Qld. spectacularly ‘fire’ sections of their crops to improve the milling process. These fires are very intense and extremely short lived – so much so within 15minutes there is barely a leaf is left smouldering… / / Canon EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2007 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / / see more pf my photography from Nth.Qld by clicking on the image below / / / / more fire related photography may be viewed by clicking on the image below / / /
Taken at the “Best Of All Lookout”, Springbrook Nat Park QLD.
This was taken along the shores of Redcliffe as the sun was rising. The waves bouncing of the man made step wall back onto the oncoming waves gave some unusual and spectacular images. When I look at this picture it reminds me of a fantale, hence its title.
Storm arriving over Pullevale (western suburbs of brisbane) earlier this evening. This shot was followed by a mad dash to my car.
Taken at Scarborough, QLD at sunset. I was hunting around for a spot with another photographer and we found this tree. Instantly we knew we had to stop here for the sunset.

Been putting together a collection of my favorite images to start submitting to people (not sure who yet) to show off the best of my work, this is one that I captured during one of the bigger swells of ‘08 back in July. I’d love your thoughts (please don’t hesitate to be critical) on this image! Thanks heaps, Paul! (Canon 30D, 500mm) www.perfectwavegallery.com
Just another reason why I firmly believe this is the best time of the day… Early 9 March 2009 ~ 06:14:15 ~ Snapper Rocks ~ SE QLD
Looking from Snapper to Marley, SE QLD, 22 May 2009, 17:13:57 The result of a low pressure system that has settled itself off the east coast – they are saying it has delivered the most rain since floods in the mid seventies – the waves are pushing 8 – 10 ft – there is a massive 2m tide with an extra meter due to the swell, some people are saying its the biggest they’ve seen here, others are saying they’ve seen bigger just never more powerful, the beaches are being eroded and by the forecast the 23rd will deliver more rain, wind and swell – which ever way you cut it, this is one hell of a weather event! Brisbane City / Cultural Centre at Southbank, looking back towards the CBD Taken with Nikon D90 (w/nikkor 18-55mm VR lens) The original shot was taken just sitting the camera on the ledge of the overpass, no tripod involved. I used an apeture of about F11 and an exposure of about 1.5 secs. I aimed to catch the bus as it pulled up to pick up more passengers and got it just in time. The one raw file I split into three jpegs in camera. For the HDR I used two bracketed exposures run through Photomatix w/ details enhancer. Set the detail to 100% I found that the were lots of colours int he photo but the balance just didn’t help what I felt was good composition, so I tried photoshop just to convert to B&W, which seemed to make the image ‘pop’. This is my most popular image on RB to date and has been featured a few times in groups as well as come top ten in a challenge.
Bullocky’s rest, Lake Kurwongbah north of Brisbane Queensland. This is a great little picnic spot just north of the city, that gives you the feeling you are miles away from the city. You can kayak and fish in the lake Nikon D90 / ISO1000 / F5.6 / 1/320 Circular polariser filter Photomatix HDR 3 bracketed shots.
Amidst Queensland’s central highlands is a magical place that has increased in popularity immensly in recent years – Carnarvon NP. Having been to the area many times over the last 15yrs I have seen it change and I opted for one of the less popular trails to start the day. This pre-dawn 3-4km walk up the 963 odd steps and steel ladders without a soul to be seen or heard was worth the experience of watching this magic start to the day. view this image large bubblesite / photography blog / portfolio ©T.Middleton2009 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-——
