This is one of my silver award winning prints from the 07 AIPP State awards. / I spent the week up in Surfer’s on the Gold coast – Hence no updates or nice comments for people. This is just one of the hundreds of photos i came up with – a simple pan of some of the hi-rise apartments. / The big pointy bugger is the Q1 building – the tallest residential building in the world.

On the whole it has been a stellar weekend for waves. Snapper was going off this morning with clean 4ft sets pumping through. One could be forgiven though for believing that this was the last waves ever to be seen on the planet and that if you don’t catch one of them you’ll lose everything, thus is the superb quality of human behaviour that is often exhibited in the waves. This shot was captured from well below one of the bigger sets, as with the majority of my photographs this one was captured using a camera, today though given the high moisture content of the environment I elected to protect it in a solid plastic housing! Apeture was set around the 4 mark, ISO around 80 and shutter speed around 400. Tweaked the contrast in photoshop and mild adjustment of saturation in an endevour to highlight the spectacular color of the water. Water temp was fantastic – I was sweating when I got out. Thinking about getting a helmet – the fins are getting a bit close on occasions! enjoy! cheers Paul www.perfectwavegallery.com

Sunset over the North Pine Dam at Bullocky’s Rest, North of Brisbane, QLD. Nikon D90 / ISO 200 / F13 Three bracketed exposures -1 0 1 processed through Photomatix using the details enhancer. It was an absolutely stunning sunset, the most gorgeous pink and orange colours. This HDR comes close to capturing the moment.
