  • Again not a planned shot, I just saw the scene and snapped it as I saw it. I like the balance between the big and small pyramids of the louvre and the two seemingly insignificant people walking towards them.

  • The pyramids and the enigmatic Sphinx have been visited for thousands of years, literally. The pyramid on the right (relative to the viewer) is the pyramid of Pharaoh Khafre. The best guess at this time is that the face of the Sphinx was his. It’s believed the clearing of land for his pyramid exposed the large rock the Sphinx was carved from. This was done to decorate what would have otherwise been an otherwise ordinary rock near his pyramid. To the left, appearing quite small here, is the last pyramid constructed at Giza, the tomb of Menkaure.

  • Probably one of my favorite drawings Pyramid Head/Silent Hill© Konami

  • Well,, I’ve done Native dreams of Old, and now heres Egyptian dreams of Old…. / / The sun was setting, / over the Great Pyramid, / I stood and watched / as the Suns golden haze bought visions slowly to my mind. / They crept in, / with emotions lulled from deep within. / I think I’ve been here before. / I know I have been here before, / and yet, I can’t remember how I know, / and yet, it’s a feeling I can’t ignore. / The feeling is so strong / and if I could just remember, / how I knew this place before. / But I think I’ve seen that too, / I know I’ve seen that too / that golden haze before me, / many moons ago, I see / almost, I see / almost. No, / the moment has gone / from a time lost, foregone. / But I was sure / I had been there before, / so sure.

  • This is the second version. The first version, my blocks were too squared off and sharp edged, so I picked this material and had to walk away for 15 hours.

  • The only light for that picture was moonlight. From my 4 days backpacking trip in the Desolation Wilderness near Lake Tahoe, CA, USA

  • One of my favorite color combinations. I find myself using the darker schemes a lot.

  • This rock formation is known as The Pyramid. It is located in Girraween national park on the border of Queensland and NSW.

  • Though Khafre’s pyramid is shorter than his father Khufu’s nearby Great Pyramid, Khafre made up for it by building at a higher elevation and surrounding his pyramid with a more elaborate complex. Within the burial chamber, explorers discovered a small pit cut in the floor—perhaps designed to hold the first canopic chest in a pyramid. Canopic chests held jars carved in the shapes of protective spirits. These jars, in turn, held the preserved liver, lungs, stomach, and intestines of the deceased. The brain would have been discarded, and the heart left in the body Khafre’s necropolis also boasted an unprecedented profusion of statues, among them the Sphinx. Carved from bedrock in front of Khafre’s pyramid, the Sphinx depicts the pharaoh as a human-headed lion, wearing the headdress of the pharaohs. The great statue is the embodiment of Khafre, the third ruler of the 4th dynasty, as the god Horus.

  • Built so the earth would touch the sky / Born from slaves sweat and stone supply / Four sides to one point upon high / A structure where dead kings would lie / / Looks like a square, four-sided cone / As pyramid this shape is known / And from it urban myths have grown / Of mystic powers to death postpone / / Powers confused with gauze and tape / Live not within a pyramid’s drape / This power lies in love not shape / For only love can death escape / / This fractal artwork was inspired by the urban legend of pyramid power. The urban legend states that anything kept beneath the footprint of a pyramid will be preserved much longer than it would under natural circumstances. The artwork combines this pyramid power with the greatest power of all, and that is the power of love. In other words, the power of love being strengthened and preserved by the power of the pyramid. Lost yet?... LOL. / / This was created in Apophysis 3D Hack. The original is 4800×4800 pixels at 300 pixels per inch. The gradient was created in Apomap, a gradient editor commonly used with Apopyhsis. Because the original is so large and difficult to see over the internet, I have included a couple of detail cutaways below. / / / / / /
