  • I saw this at a nursery and just had to take the shot. It was a little difficult doing it upside down but I got there eventually.

  • This is the first in a series called Adventures of the Little Red Pushbike. The idea was to create a photographic essay exploring famous, not so famous, and infamous Melbourne landmarks with a narrative that can best be described as Little Red Riding Hood meets Bonnie and Clyde. • This is the second in a series called Adventures of the Little Red Pushbike. The idea was to create a photographic essay exploring famous, not so famous, and infamous Melbourne landmarks with a narrative that can best be described as Little Red Riding Hood meets Bonnie and Clyde. This shot was taken on the corner of Wellington and Easey St in Collingwood. It has been abandoned for some time and has a very creepy vibe about it. It used to be a pub many years ago, and one of the few original 2 storey buildings in the area. View the photo on Flickr / View the whole set on Flickr

  • A memorial … a painted white bike attached to the Three Businessman in downtown Melbourne. The memorial is to a female cyclist who was tragically killed while riding down Swanston St in September this year (read about it in the Herald Sun). Taken on my digital ‘point and shoot’ (Canon IXUS 90IS) and with sepia applied.

  • The lyrics to the song (slightly amended) came to mind when I captured this intrepid gentleman who was riding through the bike tracks at the You Yangs State Park. I had enough trouble walking the tracks – I can only admire those who ride them. A pushbike rider went out riding / One dark and windy day, / Upon a ridge he rested as / He went along his way, / When all at once a mighty herd / Of red eyed cows he saw, / A-plowin’ through the ragged skies / And up a cloudy draw. Yippee-yi-ya, yippee-yi-yo, / Ghost herd in the sky. See the alternative firey version

  • The Sunset Version The lyrics to the song (slightly amended) came to mind when I captured this intrepid gentleman who was riding through the bike tracks at the You Yangs State Park. I had enough trouble walking the tracks – I can only admire those who ride them. An old cowpoke went riding out / One dark and windy day, / Upon a ridge he rested as / He went along his way, / When all at once a mighty herd / Of red eyed cows he saw, / A-plowin’ through the ragged skies / And up a cloudy draw. Yippee-yi-ya, yippee-yi-yo, / Ghost herd in the sky. Their brands were still on fire and / Their hooves were made of steel, / Their horns were black and shiny and / Their hot breath he could feel, / A bolt of fear shot through him as / He looked up in the sky, / For he saw the riders comin’ hard / And he heard their mournful cry: Yippee-yi-ya, yippee-yi-yo, / Ghost riders in the sky. / Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred, / Their shirts all soaked with sweat, / They’re riding hard to catch that herd, / But they ain’t caught ‘em yet, / ‘cause they’ve got to ride forever on / That range up in the sky, / On horses snortin’ fire, as / They ride on hear their cry: Yippee-yi-ya, yippee-yi-yo, / Ghost riders in the sky. The cowpokes loped on past him and / He heard one call his name, / If you want to save your soul from hell / A-riding on our range, / Then, cowboy, change your ways today, / Or with us you will ride, / A-trying to catch the devil’s herd / Across these endless skies. Yippee-yi-ya, yippee-yi-yo, / Ghost riders in the sky. See the alternative monocromish version

I was delighted to get a chance to combine my passion for photography (esp. Infrared) with another – that of cycling up impossible inclines and across ferocious Australian bush. Out walking on a bicycle track in the You Yangs, an intrepid cyclist climbed what seemed to me to be an impossible rock incline (halfway along a seriously challenging track). It was a chance to take a photograph that I seized at once. The result was / Ghost Rider in the Sky That collaboration of passions has resulted in a sale which was a wonderful surprise – and I am so grateful to the buyer of this piece.

  • 2009.05.22 Image taken & entered into a photographic comp by our local Council to depict ‘Sustainability in Motion’. The Sunshine Coasts attraction to many, is it’s beaches, local waterways & laid back lifestyle & to me Sustainability is keeping things clean & green without having too big an impact or footprint to keep it attainable. ‘Environmental Sustainability’ – Promoting Pedal Pushers / as our coast is again well known for its many bike/walking paths which act as a link throughout the Sunshine Coast areas, & we need to promote these avenues of transport to assist in sustaining a cleaner environment for our ever growing coast.

  • In Mount Gambier tonight waiting for the start of the Mount Gambier Photography Groups meeting at the Old Town Hall building when three lads rode past on their pushbikes. As they pulled wheel-stands and tricks the ground inset lighting threw large shadows along the wall of the heritage listed building. The lads were good enough to pass through time and time again for us so they we could get a range of images with a difference. Canon 400D – fixed 50 1.8 lens.
