Fun play on words. For those of you who do not know - Gesture Drawing: The act of making a sketch with relatively loose arm movements, or a drawing made this way. A gesture drawing is typically the first sort of drawing done to begin a more finished drawing or painting. It is used to block in the layout of the largest shapes in a composition..
The teacher’s pet really knows his stuff!
Acrylic and metallic paint on canvas, 46” x 38”. This is a commissioned abstract work for a client re-staging her home for sale. I created this expressionistic piece to tie a black, white and tan gallery art wall I created together and to become the focal point of the room. / I call the work “Outside The Lines”, in that the strong black lines create structure and balance and yet the color does not conform to the boundaries. The wild movement of the colors contrast and create chaos within the design of symmetry.

Being a guy, I have to admit that I was quite excited when I was presented with an opportunity to have a free screw. Yes, I know, you are probably thinking, “Geez, that’s gotta be kinda dangerous! Out in the street like that… you never know where that screw has been.” But, I must say, I didn’t really care about that. I’ll take a free screw any time I get the chance, and I’m happy to say that this isn’t the first time this has happened; I certainly hope it’s not the last, either. So why did I go for the camera to document this one? ...it’s not everyday a free screw is such a long one!
I was away from my computer when I thought of the wordplay that was possible with “Ma and Pa”, and I was VERY determined to not forget it because I sooooooooo wanted to create a picture for it. I knew I already had pictures of a cat in mid-yeowl, but I had to get Thea’s help to acquire a paw shot. And here it is… a traditional pioneer portrait of Ma and Pa :) /
A little valentine card for the special holiday coming up. Made from stock image of hearts and used with Microsoft PS Warp and Bubble Works.
My origami calendar I tried to fold a crane out of gummy candy, which came out far less successful than the candy wrapper folded crane. First I had to take a slice of gummy thin enough to fold, but not too thin that it would be too delicate to fold with; or stick to one another too easily while folding; hence getting ruined. Secondly the folding process could not be done continuously; I had to leave time between some folds to let it dry before proceeding, otherwise the gummy is just too sticky to work with. Third, the completed crane had the tendency to want to unfold and shrink, hence the stubbiness. This also made photo shooting difficult; I had to try to take the picture before the crane unfolded or contracted any further; the parts needed some pinching and stretching before the picture was taken. I was debating on whether to upload this or not, but hey it atleast kinda recognizable as a crane… well I liked the title :P This work has been featured in / Little Things To Make You Smile / The Sculptinators / Macro Untouched More Sample Origami:
Another shot taken outside The Coach & Horses Hotel, here in rural Central Victoria. / . / ( HDR x2 images using Dynamic-PhotoHDR then Picasa3 as Post Op ) ========================
You just can’t make this stuff up. This sign is on I-80 going west away from Chicago, more closely west of Ottawa near Utica, Illinois. It apparantly is an abbreviation for American Association of State Highway Officials. The AASHO Road Test, which is a primary source of data used when considering transport policies and the structural design of roads. Which is a big joke, since Illinois has probably the worst roads in the nation. You’d think they’d come up with a better acronym for this organization. If I ever met an employee that worked for AASHO, I could say, “That’s OK. I work for an ASSHO too”. /
