I love how water clings to different objects and creates such shapes… This is just an ordinary dandelion puffy thing after it rained one day. Taken with a Sigma 105mm macro lens…
Fluffy reminds me of a little blue snowball; he sends his greetings from the Barry family to all the good friends here at Red Bubble. May your Christmas be happy and holy and blessed and may 2009 be bright and beautiful and filled with wonder and joy! Love to everyone, Bonnie Postscript: Fluffy is a old crony of Frosty the Snowman. They don’t get to see each other much, though, since Fluffy relocated down South. Frosty would love to come for visits, but the heat plays havoc with his health. They content themselves with an occasional email and phone call. Fluffy and Frosty send their best to everyone!

A female Eastern bluebird is all puffed up and fluffy; looks like an old-fashioned powder puff in a lady’s boudoir! I took this photo on my patio. According to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, “The Eastern Bluebird is a small thrush with a big, rounded head, large eye, plump body, and alert posture. The wings are long, but the tail and legs are fairly short. The bill is short and straight. Male Eastern Bluebirds are vivid, deep blue above and rusty or brick-red on the throat and breast. Blue in birds always depends on the light, and males often look plain gray-brown from a distance. Females are grayish above with bluish wings and tail, and a subdued orange-brown breast. Eastern Bluebirds perch erect on wires, posts, and low branches in open country, scanning the ground for prey. They feed by dropping to the ground onto insects or, in fall and winter, by perching on fruiting trees to gulp down berries. Bluebirds commonly use nest boxes as well as old woodpecker holes. Eastern Bluebirds live in meadows and openings surrounded by trees that offer suitable nest holes. With the proliferation of nest boxes and bluebird trails, bluebirds are now a common sight along roads, field edges, golf courses, and other open areas.” Information above provided at the following address: / http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Eastern_Bluebird/id
This poor little bird was pretty cold – we are having some cold wind and rain today, and of course, nutjob me is out taking pictures. Taken in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. Slight crop and contrast enhancement.

A beautiful sunrise reflected on The Red River on a calm October morning. Taken from the Elm Park Bridge in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. MY BUBBLESITE
Just like you, once upon a time i was a beautiful promise.
Another shot made last fall while visiting my favourite place in my hometown, one crisp and sunny morning. This is the parc de la Promenade in Candiac, Quebec, and I thought that the clouds reflected in the calm waters of the St. Lawrence river looked like a puffy double-edged lace. We can see the faint outline of Montreal at far right. Focal length 24mm / ISO-100 / Aperture f/9 / Shutter 1/320 sec. Mr. Bluebird was all fluffed up and fussy on a very warm afternoon in April.
This dress hung in a Dellwood, Saint Louis, MO thrift store for two weeks, until I bought it for $5. I wore it out often with boots and a chain. Vibrant, albeit ugly, things like this deserve a life longer than one day, they are wonderful for 3 day chemically enhanced partys, grocery runs, and camping trips especially. it makes for fun pictures when you have stuff that that lying around.

Jerry in his puffy shirt!
This ruby-throated hummingbird was so amusing to watch as it perched on a limb while I was in hiding. It fluffed up its feathers, preened, stretched, scratched, and even took a little siesta. After resting time was over, it buzzed into frenetic activity, constantly dive-bombing its competitors at the nectar feeders and eating incessantly in preparation for its long migration south.
