last night (or tonite? havent been to bed yet) wednesday night! / our volunteer fire dept got a call about a old restaurant here in townsend (old landmark) had smoke coming out of it, the restaurant had been closed for years, and even tho a tubing company had taken it over (which has been closed for two years now), the locals still refer to it as the old restaurant / just as we got there, we could see the fire, and of course started doing our thing…putting it out / within 3-5 minutes the house was completely engulfed in flames, my first mission (believe it or not) was to put fire out, and of course thinking the whole time..man i need to get shots of this!! (yes, im addicted to photography), but as we had some backup come in, and it was my time to take a break…straight for the camera i went / and grabbed over a 100shots, going around the building / we were there getting this completely out to where it was safe to leave until 1am. / talk about a total rush, meanwhile feeling a sadness as a townsend landmark is now rubble this shot was published in the Knox News Sentinal on Jan. 25,2008 :) , Knoxville Tn’s largest newspaper. / This shot was also published in the 9-1-1 magazine for the August, September and October 2009 issue.

Long Beach, Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Canada / March, 2008 On a cold and very wet day out on Long Beach, Vancouver Island we made a couple of friends for a moment whilst out with our cameras… happy to check us out whilst we set up our shots, I couldn’t resist turning my attention to them… well they were following us everywhere! We were not quite sure what breed they were.. obviously living wild.. perhaps a bit of wolf in there, who knows… But anyway, this pair of puppies were as cute as… I’m sure if we had permanent residence there, then they would be sat by my feet now! GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS / Photo best viewed large. / / / / / / FEATURED WORKS / “GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS” was FEATURED in the group #1 ARTISTS OF RED BUBBLE / / / I took this photo of Mammatus on a Good Friday before Easter in Ashland, Kentucky. The clouds first started rolling in and looked like fluffy white marshmallows. Then in front of the setting sun they dramatically began to change colors. They went from snow white to shades of silvers, pinks, grays, blues and even purples! The colors were quite striking and dramatic; these clouds were nothing like anything I had ever seen before! For a few minutes they turned very dark, and it was a sight I will never forget!! These amazing mammatus clouds lasted about 45 minutes before they exited my area. / / / We were under our second tornado watch of the year, and I found out later that I was standing right under the anvil of a severe thunderhead and that a tornado could have formed at any moment! Luckily for me it didn’t, and I was able to capture some phenomenal, amazing clouds. I can’t quite put it into words other than to say, “I closed my eyes for a few seconds and felt like I had been kissed on my cheek by an angel.” This was one time in my life that I will always remember!!! / / / This photograph of “GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS” has won National awards, been published in an Anthology, and has been shown on National television. This image is also featured in several websites and blogs throughout the USA and Australia for educational purposes. / / /

About 4 months ago my sister told me that one of her friends was looking through our photos from our 2008 Europe trip. Her friend works for a publishing company, and was impressed by the shots she saw, and wanted to use them in a book on Paris she was publishing. While I was excited at the time, didn’t get my hopes up about it, until it was actually done. In true Parmi style, I totally forgot about this until today, when a copy of the book turned up in the mail for me! The book is set for release on Dec 1st I am currently in a state of shock that 6 photos (5 of mine and 1 of my sister’s) have been used in the book! I had to make a journal entry to commemorate the event :) Below are the shots from the book and the original photos that I took while in Paris. So fitting that the book itself is PARIS – A Personal Guide To The City’s Best. A 300+ page hard cover book on Paris culture, dining, accommodation, mixed in with some of Bennett’s French recipes. (Shannon Bennett is the owner of internationally renowned restaurant, Vue de monde in Melbourne) Given that Paris is quite possibly my favourite city I have visited so far, this was poetic in it’s own way. / Paris Underground / My sister’s photo / Notre Dame / Notre Dame / Notre Dame / Pantheon Link to the book online All book shots taken from Shannon Bennett’s PARIS – A Guide To The City’s Best. Update 06 December 2009 Important NOTICE / / I want the option of turning off the “share” features on RedBubble. / To say this new feature is annoying is an understatement, especially since it was recently added without my knowledge or agreement. / On another subject: I discovered today a “social bookmarking site for pictures” ..... An extension allows someone to post an image to their account by right clicking on it.” / / At the bottom of the page there is a tab which asks / “Do you have any questions, bug reports or wishes?” / So, I clicked on that and reported my request for my images to be removed. Any tips on preventing this? I thought we had right/click protection on this site! / / Occasionally, depending upon how busy I am, I search for myself on the internet using various search engines available. It is always interesting to see what appears, what is unrelated to me, and what is attached to my name, and I have learned to be wary and careful of which websites to open, for there are some in other countries which actually are more like land mines raising all manner of red flags with my computer security software. / / Even so, I conducted a search today, a rather extensive search using my name and certain keywords. And I discovered this webpage with my image, along with many other photographers and artists. I can tell you I am very upset that so many people on the internet so blatantly ignore my copyright notice. This member does not have my permission to reproduce my image in their collection of “Favourites”. It is outrageous that we have no control over our imagery and how it is copy/pasted, downloaded/shared ….... / / You may wish to have a look at this webpage to see if your images are here as well. Some I recognise from artists here on RedBubble and some look very familiar. I am sending a request for the website to delete and immediately remove my copyrighted work/s from their site. It does not matter to me that this person links my image back to my RedBubble site, I do not like the share feature and seeing my imagery on another website without my prior written authorization.
