  • I still watch her video as it reminds me who I really am.. Here is a bit about this amazing Doctor/woman and her website below. / / Jill Bolte Taylor: Neuroanatomist Brain researcher Jill Bolte Taylor studied her own stroke as it happened—and has become a powerful voice for brain recovery. / Why you should listen to her: One morning, a blood vessel in Jill Bolte Taylor’s brain exploded. As a brain scientist, she realized she had a ringside seat to her own stroke. She watched as her brain functions shut down one by one: motion, speech, memory, self-awareness … Amazed to find herself alive, Taylor spent eight years recovering her ability to think, walk and talk. She has become a spokesperson for stroke recovery and for the possibility of coming back from brain injury stronger than before. In her case, although the stroke damaged the left side of her brain, her recovery unleashed a torrent of creative energy from her right. From her home base in Indiana, she now travels the country on behalf of the Harvard Brain Bank as the “Singin’ Scientist.” “How many brain scientists have been able to study the brain from the inside out? I’ve gotten as much out of this experience of losing my left mind as I have in my entire academic career.” Jill Bolte Taylor

  • 3636 views …55 favoritings – Thx so much to clipics ..for their wonderful words below and poem…...The battle is often great. It is a battle we are seldom ready for…. Paul tells us, “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against…the spiritual forces of evil” (Eph. 6:12f).. am feeling a great love for our warriors today..wherever they may be…..In Flanders Fields .. is one of the most famous poems written during World War I and … “the poppies grow” could refer to spreading blood … ‘Thinking of you’..first….sold laminated print to a mystery buyer on redbubble woohoo lol! . ..Flowers in Winter” by kind permission of clipics / featured in ‘Outsiders’ / The photograph is so familiar / I know it’s details through and through / It’s just a piece of mem’rabilia / And yet I see it now as new / A handsome boy of barely twenty / So grown up and yet so raw / A face so bright with hope in plenty / A handsome boy who fought a war But speak my heart I can’t begin to / For the words I can’t compose / An old man loved is flowers in winter / Daddy you’re my christmas rose The photograph has scarcely faded / But the man is sorely changed / He finds it hard to walk unaided / For youth and he are long estranged / And yet these eyes that saw such sorrow / Never flinch and shine the same / Ah nature lends and we but borrow / For a while this mortal frame But speak my heart I can’t begin to / For the words I can’t compose / An old man loved is flowers in winter / Daddy you’re my christmas rose The world he fought for is passing from us / And stronger values move offstage / I am but weak, a doubting Thomas / Just a product of my age / This life of ours is less distuinguished / We stand in awe of such esprit / And when that courage is extinguished / Then we shall all the poorer be But speak my heart I can’t begin to / For the words I can’t compose / An old man loved is flowers in winter / Daddy you’re my christmas rose Dillie Keane; Fascintaing Aida:written for her Father….

  • Coloured Pencil and Ink on 280 gsm Glass Ivory Paper - / (40cm x 60cm) Worked on this one for over a week, through the wee small hours of the mornings. All my art is cathartic, it’s how I balance my life, creating is my reason to go on. When I’m up I create, when I’m down I create, creativity is my balance. I did this as one of my first experiments into coloured pencil art, and found the whole ‘colouring in’ process so very relaxing and calming. I couldn’t help but feel happyness and joy while doing this. I spent every moment I could as a child, laying on my tummy, drawing, colouring. Nothing has changed, I’m still laying on my tummy, drawing, colouring (lol) Views: 703 as at 25-11-2009 / Favourites: 38 as at 25-11-2009 FEATURED in ‘Coloured Pencil Art’ (June 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Fantastic Primitive Art’(June 2009) / FEATURED in ‘First Things’ (June 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Hand Drawn or Painted Art of Happiness & Joy’ (June 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Freedom to Shine’ (June 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Fantastic Primitive Art’ (July 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Colour Me a Rainbow’ (July 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Creative Cards’ (July 2009) / FEATURED In ‘Globes, Spheres and Curves’ (July 2009) / FEATURED in ‘The New Beat Generation’ (August 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Spectacular Spirals’ August, 2009 / FEATURED in ‘Healing through Art’ November, 2009 / FEATURED in ‘Oh so emotional (happy)’ November, 2009 / FEATURED in ‘Healing through art (HTA)’ November, 2009 /

((Details: Image created in photoshop, abstract/visionary/surreal/digital art tshirt design by Leah McNeir, 2009. This design features the silhouette of an acoustic guitar with a treble clef emblazoned on the guitar body, a raven clasping a musical note, and our inner metronome- the human heart, branching out like a Celtic Tree of Life’s limbs & roots, with color details of veins as in a circulatory system resonating the rhythm of life. )) / Thank you to all who voted in the MUSIC MACHINES challenge held by Redbubble and DEMO! ‘Rhythms of the Heart’ has come in 3rd place in the public voting portion of this challenge!
