The sand dunes on the Cape are a never ending and ever changing source of inspiration for me. This was taken near sunset close to the Herring Cove Beach.

Classic Cape Cod sand dunes and fence captured while “On The Way to the Beach”. This is near the area of Herring Cove Beach, at the very tip of the Cape Cod.

The provincetown beach areas have these fences, mostly along the roads, which prevent the sand from migrating on to the road. I love these areas for the everchanging landscape and, well, there’s just something about sand on your feet… Black and white work is somewhat of a departure for me but after living with this one for a while I began to like it a lot. Something about the contrasting geometric shapes of the fence and the rolling dunes brought into stark contrast which otherwise, might go unnoticed in a color rendition.

At the very tip of Cape Cod in Provincetown are the tidelands which, on the higher areas, grass grows but, on the lower areas ponds form. These “ponds” rise and fall sometimes disappearing with the tides forming rivers either flowing to or from the ponds depending on the tide’s action. It’s very serene treking out here in the tall, tough grass and then wading ankle deep into the clear, refreshing water sometimes feeling a slight tug from the currents.

Taken in Provincetown, Massachusetts. You’ll see a lot of boats in Provincetown. Perhaps the one I love most is this little dory. She’s been around for a while and over the years I’ve captured her in quite a few settings. Of all the captures of her I like this one best. I think it highlights her sheer simplicity and proudness. / She is a classic.
