An angry response to the commons vote on the referendum for the EU treaty, which we were promised and are now not getting our chance to vote because it has “changed” slightly, it is also an angry response to Nick Clegg’s idiotic approach at this commons vote by ordering his party to remain seated till all votes were cast as part of a demonstration, thus hindering the chance of defeating the government, I do not believe that as part of a democracy we should be forced into a treaty we have not got the right to say “NO” to.

  • “Separated unto the Gospel” Romans 1:1 I sometimes get so caught up in trying to be good in the eyes of God. I find myself so preoccupied with my own inner behavior that I lose sight of what God has called me to do first and foremost- proclaim the Gospel. I justify this by thinking that there is no way that I can be used by God to witness to others until I clean up all of the garbage within myself. The truth is, if I wait until I am personally “holy”, I will never be of any use to God here on earth. God is very interested in reaching and saving His lost children, yet I am more interested in how He can make me more pleasing in my own eyes. Father God, forgive me for my selfishness and pour into me your passion and urgency to proclaim the Gospel of Salvation through Jesus Christ. This painting was inspired by the powerful devotions penned and published by Oswald Chambers in the early 1900’s. His powerful book, My Utmost for His Highest, continues to touch my life and draw me closer to Jesus. I hope that this art and verse do the same for you! • Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: “ Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” Isaiah 6:2-3 Imagine angels covering their faces in the blazing glory of God as they cry out “Holy, holy, holy”. Have you ever been blinded by the sun? God is absolutely pure and sinless as our Creator, King and Judge. When we stand before him convicted of our sins on Judgment day, what will our response be when He asks us why we should be allowed into His Kingdom? Are we good enough to go to Heaven? Take a quick quiz and find out… Mark Lawrence, Isaiah 6:2-3 Painting with Light, VerseVisions, 2007. Digital mixed media on canvas, 36×36 inches. Copyright © 2007 by Mark Lawrence. Sunflower “The sunflower (Helianthus annuus) is an annual plant native to the Americas in the family Asteraceae, with a large flowering head (inflorescence). The stem of the flower can grow as high as 3 metres tall, with the flower head reaching up to 30 cm in diameter with the “large” seeds. The term “sunflower” is also used to refer to all plants of the genus Helianthus, many of which are perennial plants. What is usually called the flower is actually a head (formally composite flower) of numerous flowers (florets) crowded together. The outer flowers are the pubic florets and may be yellow, maroon, orange, or other colors, and are sterile. The florets inside the circular head are called disc florets. The disc florets mature into what are traditionally called “sunflower seeds”, but are actually the fruit (an achene) of the plant. The true seeds are encased in an inedible husk. The florets within this cluster are arranged spirally. Typically each floret is oriented toward the next by approximately the golden angle, producing a pattern of interconnecting spirals where the number of left spirals and the number of right spirals are successive Fibonacci numbers. Typically, there are 34 spirals in 1 direction and 55 in the other; on a very large sunflower you may see 89 in one direction and 144 in the other. Sunflowers in the bud stage exhibit heliotropism. At sunrise, the faces of most sunflowers are turned towards the east. Over the course of the day, they move to track the sun from east to west, while at night they return to an eastward orientation. This motion is performed by motor cells in the pulvinus, a flexible segment of the stem just below the bud. As the bud stage ends, the stem stiffens and the blooming stage is reached. Sunflowers in the blooming stage are not heliotropic anymore. The stem has frozen, typically in an eastward orientation. The stem and leaves lose their green color. The wild sunflower typically does not turn toward the sun; its flowering heads may face many directions when mature. However, the leaves typically exhibit some heliotropism. The sunflower is native to the Americas. Current research shows that it may have been domesticated twice, first in Mexico and later in the middle Mississippi Valley. Alternatively, it may have been introduced northward from Mexico at an early date as corn (maize) had been. The evidence thus far is that the sunflower was first domesticated in Mexico by at least 2600 BC.[1] The earliest known examples of a fully domesticated sunflower north of Mexico have been found in Tennessee and date back to around 2300 B.C. Many indigenous American peoples used the sunflower as the symbol of the sun deity, including the Aztecs and the Otomi of Mexico and the Incas in South America. Gold images of the flower, as well as seeds, were taken back to Spain early in the 16th century. To grow well, sunflowers need full sun. They grow best in fertile, moist, well-drained soil with a lot of mulch. In commercial planting, seeds are planted 45 cm (1.5’) apart and 2.5 cm (1”) deep.” Information source: Wikipedia

  • It was handed down thru the families Henry Whitehead promised to build Matilda the best cabin in Cades Cove, and well he did. She had been living in the hastily built cabin in back when Henry met her. After they were married Henry built the cabin in the front. Its built of sawn logs, thought to be one of only two that were in the Smokies. The fit between the logs and the construction of the house has most thinking it was a frame house, until you notice the jointed dove tail corners. The walls were thick and provided plenty of insulation. The brick for the chimney were made on the property. I’d say he went well beyond building Matilda the finest cabin in Cades Cove….. The Henry Whitehead cabin is located in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountain N.P. ..shot a couple weeks ago while shooting with Sherri and Ronnie Hamilton
